Last weekend, the Fortress of Ineptitude welcomed it's newest inhabitant not as a guest but as family.
On Saturday, I made my 2nd trip to the SPCA to sign the papers and make it official that our home would now be Rosie's forever home.
While the paperwork made in official, my daughter Randie would tell you that Rosie actually being part of our family was a foregone conclusion when we first brought this dog home two weeks prior.
In the house, Rosie is a very gentle dog, very quiet. Her biggest vice is spending too much time in her favorite chair angling to get tummy rubs from her new family.
Outside the house has been our biggest challenge. She totally goes nuts at the very sight or even sound of another dog. She can be quite aggressive but not in a hostile way. She seems like she wants to play with other dogs but doesn't quite know how.
Since Rosie was abused and abandoned as a puppy, Randie's research into suggests that Rosie never learned how to interact with the rest of her litter and thus lacks social skills on how exactly to interact with other dogs.
Well, ain't it ironic Rosie wound up in this house. I think part of my own issues with social skills and the lack thereof can be attributed to the lack of interaction with other children when I was very young. So if something similar is the root of Rosie's issues with other dogs, well, I can relate.
One other thing about Rosie is that sometimes when she sleeps, she snores. But it's kind of relaxing to listen to.
Welcome to the family, Rosie!
