Songs For Saturday: Garbage, The Pretenders and the Go-Go's

Bat head phones? Slap 'em on!

Volume? Crank it up!

Time for Songs For Saturday!!!

Up first is a group called Garbage. Don't let the name throw you. This group is good!

Garbage was made up of musicians who were mostly session men for other people's records and decided they wanted to be their own thing.

They decided their own thing would be better with a female lead singer. So they recruited Shirley Manson.

Yes, Shirley Manson was a hot Scottish red head before Karen Gillan made being a hot Scottish red head a cool thing to be.

Shirley Manson also had an awesome set of pipes and could sing the hell out of anything.

Here is perhaps my all time favorite song by Garbage, "Special".

You may notice that part of "Special" has a lyric taken from "Talk of The Town" by The Pretenders.

Speaking of which...

Here is perhaps my favorite song by Chrissy Hynde and the Pretenders, "Talk of the Town".

Here's a bonus Chrissy Hynde performance with Lisa Kudrow of "Smelly Cat".

OK, we've had two great female vocalists fronting bands made up of men.

Let's wrap up today's post with a band with women doing all the work.

Ever since I watched their documentary (see here), I've been grooving to the music of the Go-Go's a lot lately (as seen here).

Today's we rock out with the Go-Go's with a track from their Vacation album, "The Way You Dance".

OK,  that is that for today's Songs For Saturday.

Until next time, stay safe, remember to be good to one another and to always keep the music alive.
