A Deficiency of Truth

Well, the lyingest liar who ever lied has been busy lying his lying ass off.

Liar in chief Donald Trump said Monday evening in reference to Brett Kavanaugh, “In our country, a man or a woman must always be presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. And with that, I must state that you, sir, under historic scrutiny, were proven innocent.”

Brett Kavanaugh was not proven innocent. The FBI’s “investigation” could only assert there was no corroborating evidence of the allegations against Kavanaugh. In fact, the mission statement for the FBI’s “investigation” was to provide raw data but would not determine guilt or innocence.

You know, Trump got his guy on the Supreme Court. Dude, hop in your golf cart and take a victory lap if you like. Celebrate the win, if you must.

But Li’l Donnie still can’t let go of the idea that people dare to speak out against him. So he’s got to petulantly whine about that shit. And, because he can’t help himself, lie about it.

"The paid D.C. protesters are now ready to REALLY protest because they haven’t gotten their checks - in other words, they weren’t paid! Screamers in Congress, and outside, were far too obvious - less professional than anticipated by those paying (or not paying) the bills!"

So people who were genuinely pissed off at Kavanaugh’s politics, his alleged actions and the indifference of Senate Republicans can counter that no, they weren’t paid by anyone and Trump can counter with, “Because you did a bad job!”  OK, I have to admit, that’s some next level evil bullshit there.

Trump has proven that lying works. Even when the truth is clear and present to counter the lies, lying still works.

So it’s not a surprise that this strategy is being employed by others.

Let’s chat about  Abigail Spanberger for a bit.

She spent nearly a decade fighting terrorists as an undercover CIA officer.  So thank you, Ms. Spanberger , for your service.

But she’s a Democrat running against a Republican congressman so yeah it’s time to shit all over that “service”. To hear Republicans tell it, she harbors terrorist sympathies.

OK, here’s the deal:
Abigail Spanberger was once a substitute teacher at a Saudi Arabia-funded Muslim school, a position she no longer held when the school  became the subject of Congressional inquiry.

Apparently, two infamous terrorists once attended the school but not while Spanberger was employed there. The CIA not only knew about the job but also later hired Spanberger and employed her for eight years, granting her a top-secret clearance.

Her time at the school is the core of an attack ad against her, saying  “Abigail Spanberger cashed her paychecks like nothing was wrong.”

The idea that Abigail Spanberger is some kind of terrorist sympathizer is a LIE!

A similar charge has been aimed at Aftab Pureval, a Democrat running for Congress in Ohio.

Here’s the deal with this guy.  Pureval once worked for a Washington law firm that reached a restitution agreement to reduce payments owed to families of Americans killed by Libyan terrorism, specifically to the families of victims of the 1988 Lockerbie terrorist attack.

BUT….

  • Pureval wasn’t working for the firm when the deal was reached.
  • When Pureval joined the firm, he worked on anti-trust litigation; he was not part of the team working on the restitution agreement.

ALSO….

  • President George W. Bush backed the settlement negotiation with Libya.
  • Rep. Steve Chabot, Pureval’s current GOP opponent, did not object when it was approved in the House.

The idea that Aftab Pureval is some kind of terrorist sympathizer is a LIE!

Scott Rosen was 5 years old when his father, Saul Mark Rosen, was killed in the Lockerbie bombing. He wrote this in a letter to Pureval:   “The attempt to connect you to the murder of my father was utterly beyond the pale."

Say hello to Jason Crow, Democratic House candidate in Colorado.  Crow eceived a Bronze Star for heroism in Iraq and a “lawyer of the year” award for his work as an advocate for veterans.

The Republican party wants you to say hello to Jason Crow who has “neglected” Colorado veterans, a willing do nothing bystander to the Veterans Affairs Department and its massive and scandalous backlog where thousands of veterans were not receiving prompt and effective medical care.

Crow sat on a local VA board from 2009 to 2014; during that time he missed a few meetings.

Or as the Republican attack ad puts it,” While veterans suffered from the VA scandal, Crow didn’t show up for work. Jason Crow neglected Colorado veterans.”

At the time of those missed meetings, Crow’s wife was experiencing complications due to her pregnancy and then they had a new baby.

Jason Crow is warmly regarded by local veterans for his work advocating on their behalf, putting in thousands of pro-bono hours working for veterans.

Or Crow missed some board meetings and now there are veterans dying in the streets, take your pick.

The idea that Jason Crow is indifferent to the plight of veterans is a LIE!

Lies to make a point, lies to score a win, this should not be a surprise when you look at whose sitting on top of this shit pile.

What else is to be expected when the leader is a Liar In Chief?

What else can we expect but a  deficiency of truth.
