The Defamation Consternation

Yesterday, the Amber Heard-Johnny Depp defamation trial  came to a dramatic conclusion when the jury decided the case in favor of Depp and his defamation case against Heard. Depp is entitled to $15 million in damages.

The jury came down in favor of Heard in her countersuit against  Depp for defamation over his claims that her own abuse allegations were a hoax. Heard is up to receive $2 million in damages.

So...

Everybody wins?

I haven't posted about these shenanigans between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp because the whole mess is so totally fucked up and I really don't care.

And who really is the victim here?

Apparently Heard's allegations against Depp hurt his reputation so much, it put the kibosh on a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, costing Johnny Depp a $22.5 million pay day.

So...

Losing out on $22.5 million? Bad.

Saving us from a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie? Maybe not so bad?

The same reputation woes apparently prompted Warner Bros. to kick Depp out of  Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

So...

Losing out on another movie role and not getting paid for it? Bad.

Not having to make another one of those interminably horrendous Fantastic Beasts movies? Maybe more of a blessing than not?

Mostly, you know, I don't really care.

Amber and Johnny in... happier times?
