OK, see if this sounds familiar.
A buffoonish man of questionable skills and moral character takes the reigns of a conservative political movement. The leaders of this conservative political movement really do not want this imbecile but dammit, he's somehow become the only game in town.
Despite the glaring deficiencies in his ability and intelligence, this buffoon manages to win over enough voters with angry rhetoric against outside forces threatening their way of life and with vague promises to make everything great again.
Once in power, this jackass lives down to the lowest expectations of everyone due to an obvious lack of talent, intelligence and wisdom and an over reliance of servicing his own ego. This moron's reign as leader is a constant stream of incompetence and scandal.
Now if all of this sounds distressing similar to Donald Trump, here is where this narrative takes a different turn in another country than what we experienced here in America.
In this version of this story, the leaders of this conservative political movement reach a point where the incompetence and scandal is just too damn much to put up with and decided this fucker needs to go.
This fucker says no, he ain't going.
The leaders of this conservative political movement close ranks. The truth is obvious, the facts are undeniable. This damn idiot has no damn idea what he's doing and it's damn time to go.
This fucker sees for himself he is alone in the room.
And thus the United Kingdom says good bye to Boris Johnson, Prime Minister.
Here in America, the Republican Party is all "Wait! You can do that?"
You will hear the occasional Republican confess that behind the scene, no one can stand Donald Trump. They think he's stupid and ineffective, unhinged and delusional. Within his own party, they point and laugh at this blubbering buffoon.
And yet...
And yet...
Donald Trump still holds sway over the Republican Party.
The conservatives in the United Kingdom looked at Boris Johnson and saw pretty much the same thing in their Prime Minister and made the collective judgement that, "This bastard needs to go!"
The conservatives in the United States look at Donald Trump and the same levels of incompetence and scandal are clearly on view and whatever snide comments they make behind the scenes about this fucking moron, they continue to make the collective statement that, "Hell, we'll vote for him again!"
What the unholy hell.
Of course, the big difference is how government works over there as opposed to how it works over here. And there are differences in terms of how people view religion, race and culture between the two countries.
Americans who support Trump are making knee jerk reactions based on his appeals to the goals of evangelicals and the white supremacists of this under educated base.
That's not to say that the United Kingdom does not have right wing religious zealots and racist nut cases but their sway on the electorate is less pronounced.
In America, there are people who look at Donald Trump for all his obvious lacking in intelligence, wisdom, leadership and temperament and are still prepared to call him their savior.
In the United Kingdom, people looked at Boris Johnson with all his obvious lacking in intelligence, wisdom, leadership and temperament and decided "Enough is enough".
