Songs For Saturday 1990's: Smashing Pumpkins , U2 and REM

This month, I'm So Glad My Suffering Amuses You presents November Nineties!

Songs For Saturday for each weekend in November will feature 3 songs from that apparently long ago era of the 1990's.

Long ago? Yeah, it came as a shock to me as well.

As we look back on the 1990's, we start this week's playlist with Smashing Pumpkins looking back on another era long gone as well. Here is "1979".

In the 1990's U2 got weird with some kind of disco/glam rock thing.

An example of that strangeness is our next song on the playlist, "Lemon".

REM  got their start in the 1980's and barreled into the 1990's with the album Monster leading off with this track,  "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?"

By the way, the source of the title is a strange assault on CBS news anchor Dan Rather where the assailant as he kept punching him repeatedly asked "What's the frequency, Kenneth?"

Well, that is that for today's Songs For Saturday.

Next week we time travel back to the 1990's for three more songs.

Until next time, remember to be good to one another and to always keep the music alive.
