OK, here's some stuff that's been going on over the past week or so.
The U.S. House of Representatives finally got a Speaker of the House the dude the Republicans foisted upon that legislative body is Mike Johnson.
Who pray tell is Mike Johnson? Well he is perhaps the most right wing, MAGA following,Trump loving, gay hating, election denying, fear mongering fundamentalist Christian nationalist they could've picked but ultimately Mike Johnson was so damn new to Congress that he has no real record to speak of and hasn't pissed off the rest the party like Scalise,Jordan, Emmers, McCarthy, etc etc etc.
Johnson's lack of experience as a legislator was seen as a plus and not a deficit by a Republican Party determined to put the clown car debacle of picking a speaker behind them.
Even though Johnson is as much or even more so a reactionary right wing nut case as the other Speaker nominees they rejected.
Johnson once said that it was the duty of every American woman of child bearing age to produce one able bodied working American.
This guy will be setting the legislative agenda for the U.S. House of Representatives.
The Handmaid's Tale is moving away from dystopian science fiction to documentary series.
In other news, My Pants....dammit! Mike Pence is no longer running for President. He dropped out this weekend. Which begs the question of why was he even bothering in the first place.
The pro-Trump faithful were never ever going to forgive Pence for not helping Trump to overturn the 2020 election of January 6th.
And any anti-Trump members still clinging to life in the Republican Party were never, ever going to support Pence after 4 years of obsequious toadying to Li'l Donnie which just enabled the petulant man-baby to indulge in his delusions about the 2020 election.
Trump is not alone in that delusion. A recent poll shows a majority of Republicans agree with Li'l Donnie that the election was rigged and his victory was stolen. One of them is now Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
And as for Donald Trump....
Oh fuck it! I give up!
Short version: his legal woes are piling up as allies have copped to guilty please and are flipping on der Fuehrer and yet his poll numbers keep going up.
I read in a recent poll where respondents who voiced their support for Trump were asked to clarify why and they said they most admire Donald Trump for his honesty.
And we are so fucked.
