I find it frustrating to see stories wherein people are trying to make sense of whatever bullshit Donald Trump said or did in the last 15 minutes.
- What is Donald Trump's objective?
- What does Donald Trump hope to gain?
- Why did Donald Trump do or say this or that?
The frustration comes from knowing that the answer to these questions is very simple:
Donald Trump is stupid.
There was a piece on HuffPost recently titled "Maybe Rex Tillerson Was Right. Maybe Donald Trump Really Is Just A Moron".
Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Trump's first term is reported to have called Trump "a moron".
Later modified to "a fucking moron".
The HuffPost article is an in depth analysis of many other people who share this opinion and the many things Li'l Donnie has done and said to underscore the accuracy of that assessment.
Like his repeated insistence he's going to lower drug prices by 1,500%.
Which would mean the drug companies will give me my drugs for free and on top of that, pay me $1,400?
I'm not an economist or anything but I don't think that's how that would work.
Mind you, I wouldn't complain if that really happened.
But no business is going to give you a product or service for FREE and the pay YOU money as well.
But Donald Trump said he's going to lower drug prices by 1,500%.
OK, let's not be picky. He mis-spoke or something. Happens to all of us, right?
But then Donald Trump said it AGAIN he's going to lower drug prices by 1,500%.
And again.
And again.
And you get the idea.
My favorite quote from the HuffPost article is this one from photographer Annie Leibovitz in 2018: “You do not know anyone as stupid as Donald Trump. You just don’t.”
University of Michigan psychology professor David Dunning, helped developed the “Dunning-Kruger effect” that describes how some people with little competence in any specific field nevertheless overestimate their level of expertise. Dunning is interviewed for the HuffPost piece and even he seems gobsmacked by the depths of Donald Trump's stupidity and his penchant for self delusion.
I really don't need professional analysis by others to know that Donald Trump is a profoundly stupid person. Everytime the man talks, he betrays his lack of education, intelligence and wisdom. I consider Trump's stupidity is not an opinion but an objective observable fact.
Which brings us to another source of frustration, the snivelling sycophants who hear the same damn words and then purport that Trump is some kind of next level genius who's playing 4-D chess a dozen moves ahead of everyone else.
And those snivelling sycophants are in positions of power to hold this stupidity in check but choose not to do so.
Either because of their own stupidity and/or their naked ambitions for personal power that Trump's stupidity makes possible.
