Dave-El's Spinner Rack: Batman & Robin: Year One and Batman/Hush2

And we're back with a visit to ye olde spinner rack to take a look at my new comic book purchases.

And we'll start off the with the latest issues of my current favorite Batman book, Batman & Robin: Year One by Mark Waid and Chris Samnee.

The nefarious schemes of General Grimaldi to embroil the crime families in a gang war continue.

Without General Grimaldi.

Grimaldi is now dead as the result of a double cross orchestrated by (who else?) Two-Face.  With Matt Hagen a.k.a. Clayface taking Grimaldi's place, Two-Face continues the General's "Project Gemini" to transform Grimaldi's henchmen into tempory Clayfaces to replace Gotham's crime lords and people in authority (such as Commissioner Gordon) to take over Gotham City.

And defeat the Batman.

Just before Clyface Matt Hagen killed Grimaldi, the General had worked out a final clue pointing to Bruce Wayne as the Batman. So Two-Face replaces Gotham's attorney general who has Bruce Wayne arrested for securities fraud.

Which gives social worker Ms. Lyn the excuse she's been looking for to take Dick Grayson away from Wayne Manor once and for all.

Well things are not looking good for our Dynamic Duo.

Batman#161 by Jeph Loeb, Jim Lee and Scott Williams continues the Hush2 storyline that I am struggling to give a damn about but the issue does give us something I have never seen before: Batman vs. Batgirl.

News has reached Barbara Gordon that Batman saved the Joker and she has the same reaction that Jason Todd did to this news: she's pissed off.

Bruce would normally not have that much of a problem in a physical altercation with Barbara but Hush has put him through some shit so physically and mentally, he's not at the top of his game.

So we get an extended sequence of Batgirl working out a lot of rage at Batman.

So points for something giving me something I've never seen before.

But otherwise this Hush2 storyline is just not doing a lot for me.

Over the next two weeks on the spinner rack:

Justice League

And the History of the DC Universe!
