Assassin Nation

"The American Democrat party hates this country. They wanna see it collapse. They love it when America becomes less white."

Charlie Kirk, March 20, 2024

So Charlie Kirk was killed last week.

When someone famous dies, it is normally my want on this blog to opine that the wrong people keep dying.

I usually say that because the person in question brought light and joy to the world through their gifts, their talents, their kindness, their presence. And I am frustrated that there are those who continue to live who offer nothing of the sort.

My saying "the wrong people keep dying" does not come to my mind with the death of Charlie Kirk.

The implication of "the wrong people keep dying" is there are right persons who should be dying.

Which makes me feel uncomfortable. Especially when the person in question was unalived through the bloody act of murder.

Let me be clear: I do not condone murder. Political violence should not tolerated no matter how reprehensible the target. It was not Tyler Robinson's place to murder Charlie Kirk.

  • I'm sad that this sort of thing can happen in America.
  • I'm sad that fractures and divisions in our nation have brought us to this.
  • I'm sad for anyone who may have actually loved and cared about Charlie Kirk in this, a tragic time of loss

But do not ask me to be sad that Charlie Kirk is gone.

I know the conventional wisdom is to not speak ill of the dead.

But this dead person in question offered no such courtesies to the living while he befouled this world with his loathsome presence.

Chalie Kirk was an absolutely terrible excuse for a person.

My wife Andrea was scared of me posting this on a public forum. She read stories of people being fired from their jobs for celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk.

1) I've seen the stats for this blog. Virtually nobody reads the thing.

2) I am NOT celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk. I do not and will not take pleasure in the death of another person.

BUT I will NOT celebrate his life. And I will not be bullied into saying otherwise.

To my observation, Charlie Kirk did not bring light and joy to this world.  He only brought darkness and bitterness.

He trafficked in hate and fear and ignorance against anyone who did not look or think like him.

"Happening all the time in urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people, that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more."

Charlie Kirk , May 18, 2023

Charlie Kirk stood in utter contempt of women, African Americans, the LGBTQ+ community, anyone he thought of as “other”.

That this bloviating bully was brought low by a bullet is the very definition of ironic given his absolutism on the 2nd amendment.

He once said that deaths from gun violence was an acceptable price to pay for the protections of the 2nd amendment.

"I think it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational."

Charlie Kirk, April 5, 2023

I wonder if he still felt that way as he lay on the hard ground, blood gushing from the bullet wound in his neck.

Worse still was the rush to glorify this worthless prick in the immediate aftermath of his death and assign to his murder some glorious call to action, a call to war.

Steve Bannon:  “Charlie Kirk is a casualty of war! We are at war in this country. We are.”

Jesse Watters: "They are at war with us, whether we want to accept it or not. What are we gonna do about it?”

White supremacist activist Matt Forney called for "a complete crackdown on the left. Every Democratic politician must be arrested and the party banned.”

Donald Trump extolled Charlie Kirk as a great and legendary man, a martyr even. He even ordered flags to be flown at half-mast in tribute.

This rush to sanctify and glorify this goddam motherfucker who did nothing but employ hate, anger and fear towards the worst and darkest impulses of humanity says so much about Trump and the world of right wing MAGA heads he's cultivated.

And Li'l Donnie wasted no time blaming the Democrats for his death.

In a message from the Oval Office, Donald Trump said, “For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now. My administration will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity, and to other political violence, including the organizations that fund it and support it, as well as those who go after our judges, law enforcement officials, and everyone else who brings order to our country.”

Good ol' Donnie! Always bringing gasoline to a fire.

Eric Trump, desperate for his daddy's love and attention, joined with the hate mongering: “They wanted to eliminate a powerful voice. They wanted to eliminate the future of a movement.”

"We need to have a Nuremberg-style trial for every gender-affirming clinic doctor. We need it immediately."

Charlie Kirk, April 1, 2024

Others are carrying on Charlie Kirk's "good" work.  The Wall Street Journal reported that messages that Tyler Robinson wrote on his gun shell casings promoted a "trans gender ideology".  Where they got that from, well, I have no goddam idea.

Meanwhile, Erika Kirk isn't helping. As the wife of Charlie Kirk and the mother of his two children, she is expected to be fueled by grief and rage. But this statement is disturbing.

“The evil-doers for my husband’s assassination have no idea what they have done.   They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith and of God’s love. They should all know this. If you thought my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you have unleashed across this country and this world.”

Now I understand she's upset and rightfully so but notice the use of purals: "evil-doers", "they killed Charlie", "they should all know this".  The preacher "of God's love" has a lot of angry followers willing and able to take action against whoever "they" are.

Even though it does appear the shooter Tyler Robinson acted alone. Despite various Republicans and MAGAs trying to link Robinson to some kind of greater leftist movement or a "trans-gender ideology".

There was a prayer vigil held at the Kennedy Center yesterday for supporters of Charlie Kirk.

One mourner described Kirk as a "wonderful, wonderful man...just preaching what he truly believed.”

Did this person mean stuff like this?

"I can't stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that — it does a lot of damage."

Charlie Kirk, October 12, 2022

Alleged Christian Person Mike Johnson said this at the vigil: "We do well to be reminded that the best way to honor his memory and to honor his unmatched legacy is to live as Charlie did."

The Speaker of the House is a reported follower of a guy named Jesus Christ who espoused such concepts as compassion and kindness yet supports living like a man who thinks empathy is a bad thing.  I'm sure Johnson is not smart enough to recognize the contradictions in his positions relating to his faith and the man he came to praise.

What Charlie Kirk believed was in a perspective of greedy self absorption with total contempt for any and all who fell outside the parameters of that self.

And those who believed in this message of contempt for anyone who is "other" are driven to rage and messianic declarations of retribution and war.

This is the kind of world Charlie Kirk helped create and leaves behind, a world rivened by hate, fear and stupidity.

Charlie Kirk was not a good man. It's all there in everything he did and said.

Trump and his kind think he was good man, based on the same things he did and said.

Well, that tells you everything you need to know about how totally fucked we are right now.
