2025 Begins

Well, today is New Year’s Day, the first day of 2025.  

 

I wish I felt better about the year ahead. 

 

On the political spectrum with Donald Trump heading back into the White House, I can only greet the coming year with a sense of dread.

 

Li’l Donnie is insistent that tariffs are some kind of magic panacea to immediately cure whatever ails the American economy instead of the drag such tariffs are more like to have on our economy.

 

Everyone who voted for Trump because stuff costs too much are in for a rude awakening when the costs of tariffs are passed along to consumers.

 

Look for chaos on the foreign policy front.  With an administration staff hired for loyalty to Trump over any actual competency in any respective fields, Donald may feel emboldened to do things he was talked out of in his first term.

 

Such as exiting NATO. 

 

Or even the United Nations. 

 

And what could come on the home front. Trump said in a speech recently that he would push for two genders only to be the law of the land.  Even with a supportive Republican led Congress, how much can Trump accomplish towards that goal?  Even if unsuccessful, even attempting such efforts will make life difficult for trans gender Americans.   

Geez, is this whole post gonna be nothing but "Donald Trump is in charge and the world is gonna suck?"  

Maybe?

C'mon! There's gotta be something I'm looking forward to in 2025.

Well...

James Gunn's new Superman movie looks like it's gonna be cool.

 So I'm gonna hang my hat on that to stay positive for 2025.

Oh, and there's new episodes of Doctor Who so that's a thing.
