Royal Wedding Day

‘Allo! ‘Allo! ‘Allo!

Crikey and blimey, luv, but it’s ROYAL WEDDING DAY!

Yes, today we celebrate the joining of two souls in wedded bliss: Prince Harry, heir to the throne of England, and Meghan Markle, recently the star of the USA cable network drama, Suits!

By the way, Meghan is her middle name; her actual first name is Rachel.

Well, I say, I trust you are in a royal tizzy over the royal nuptials as I am.

OK, maybe “royal tizzy” is overstating things a bit.

I am admittedly fascinated by the rarified atmosphere of life in the British royal family. The rules of decorum and propriety that guide the life of the British royal family hold a certain fascination to me. Yes, there are limitations and constrictions on how a member of the royal family is supposed to conduct one’s self that may seem over oppressive. On the other hand, left free to my own devices, I can’t say I’ve done much better with my own life.

As it notes on the masthead of this very blog, I am “trapped in a world I am not designed to cope with”. Perhaps if I were in the royal family with Queen Elizabeth telling me what to do, I might fare better.

For example, when dining with the Queen, one cannot begin eating until she has started eating and one has to stop eating when the Queen has finished her dinner. If nothing else, I might lose weight.

Anyway, the occasion of a ROYAL WEDDING is a chance for the royal family to show off all the royal pomp and royal pageantry they can muster.

The most recent ROYAL WEDDING spectacular was the marriage of Kate Middleton to Prince William.

Prince William, otherwise known as “the luckiest son of a bitch on the planet”. I mean, look at her...

Then look at him....

Then look at her again.

I mean, DAMN!

So far, things seem to be going OK with William and Kate. She keeps popping out babies and looking good doing it. Apparently being pregnant is not easy for Kate as she gets very bad episodes of morning sickness while with child. But she keeps letting William impregnate her and who can blame William wanting to frequently get busy with that because look at her! I mean, DAMN!

Luckiest!

Son of a bitch!

On the planet!

And he knows it.

Sadly, the fairy tale of a ROYAL WEDDING is not always a harbinger of a fairy tale ending. Back in 1981, we were presented with the spectacle of a ROYAL WEDDING with Diana Spencer marrying Prince Charles, the previous holder of the “title of the luckiest son of a bitch on the planet”. You know the drill: look at her, look at him, look at her again.

DAMN!

Diana was a sweet beautiful soul. Unfortunately, Prince Charles was in love with his horse.

Sorry, I meant Camilla.

Yes, I know that’s mean but come on!

Anyway, the marriage of Charles and Diana produced two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. Then the façade of any wedded bliss for Charles and Diana fractured. They divorced and then Diana met her death in the streets of Paris in a tragic car crash. Diana, a sweet beautiful soul, did not deserve such a terrible end.

But her sons have tried to honor the legacy of their late mother. And they have in turn have found love to build their own families and their own legacies.

And today’s ROYAL WEDDING is for Prince Harry a fateful step towards his furthering his legacy.

Sadly, planning for the big day has not been without drama. There was some back and forth about whether or not Meghan's father would walk her down the aisle. it seems her father had a heart attack and is in the hospital. There was also some issues with him arranging paparazzi photographs in the build-up to the ceremony.

The latest word is Prince Charles, Meghan's father in law to be will escort Ms. Markle down the aisle.

Good luck to Harry and Meghan. May you be blessed with a long and happy life together filled with love.
