Here We Go Again: the Return of ABBA

ABBA is back, baby!

On Friday, the 4 members of ABBA (Björn Ulvaeus, Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad) announced to the world that they are making music together again.

They were working on a virtual ABBA experience and were having such fun doing it, they decided it was time to get together for real.  Here is some of the text from their statement.

“The decision to go ahead with the exciting ABBA avatar tour project had an unexpected consequence. We all felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did. And it was like time had stood still and we had only been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyful experience!”

ABBA will be releasing two new songs for the first time since they disbanded in 1982.

Here are some links to some ABBA videos. (These are on You Tube so their continued availability is at the mercy of whatever mood You Tube is in today.)

Waterloo
The song that started it all. The video in this link as some weird seizure inducing zooms. As for the costumes, well, it was the 1970s and it was Sweden.

Ring Ring
This song appeared in the American version of the Waterloo album. Originally, Ring Ring was the title track of the debut studio album by the Swedish group credited to Björn Benny & Agnetha Frida, before they later became the pop group ABBA.

Take a Chance on Me
Just try to not dance when you hear this one.

Summer Night City
Late period ABBA influenced by disco. The theme of the song: I'm ready to get laid RIGHT NOW!

Does Your Mama Know?
This is a rare song with Bjorn on the lead vocals.
