Standing At the Gaetz of Hell

Matt Gaetz is a Republican congressman from Florida who has made a name for himself as being one of the most loyal supporters of Donald Trump in the House of Representative. During Trump's 2nd impeachment, Gaetz even offered to resign from his seat and sell his home and other stuff to dedicate himself fully and completely to Trump's defense.

Such grand gestures were never needed since the fix was already in with the majority of Senate Republicans when the final vote came 'round. Still, Matt Gaetz was and is all in for Donald Trump.

If you're wondering if Matt Gaetz has any other interests than sucking on Trump's backside, it appears he does.

Gaetz is accused of such salacious activities as:

  • having sex with a minor
  • engaged in sex trafficking (transporting said minor across state lines)
  • having sex with prostitutes
  • getting high on ecstasy
  • showing nude photos of women he had sex with to colleagues on the House floor.

OK, I know the rule is guilty until proven innocent but damned if this doesn't seem like, yeah, that makes sense.

Reporters retrieved receipts of payments that Gaetz made via Cash App and Apple Cash to one of the women involved.

It does seem particularly stupid  to use two extremely popular  and traceable payment apps.

Well, no one ever accused Matt Gaetz of being a genius.

Colin Jost said on Saturday Night Live that this "story has since been confirmed by his whole vibe."

Last week, Matt Gaetz went on Tucker Carlson's show on Fox to defend himself against all the allegations made against him and more. He insisted he did not engage any sex acts with child prostitutes.  Which, at that point, no one had actually accused him of that.

I suppose we should give it another minute.

Well, at least Matt Gaetz can count on support from his fellow Republicans, right?

OK, about that...

Aides for Gaetz sent embarrassing videos of their boss to other Republicans. Matt is very much disliked within his own party, being described by one Republican operative as "the meanest person in politics."

Donald Trump, the man who Matt Gaetz has professed such deep and profound devotion to, has so far not said one damn word in defense of this little weasel.

Subject to dozens of accusations of sexual improprieties himself, Donald Trump has never met a man accused of sexual improprieties who wasn't being railroaded.

But when it comes to Matt Gaetz, nothing but silence from Li'l Donnie.

Matt Gaetz insists he's done nothing wrong but apparently Mr. Did Nothing Wrong tried to finagle a preemptive pardon from Trump a few months back.

Nothing proclaims innocence like asking for pardons for crimes you did not commit?

Meanwhile, Gaetz is following the playbook of his beloved Donald Trump, denounce, deny and do it loudly.

"The swamp is out to drown me with false charges. I'm going to fight like hell for my constituents and the country I deeply love."

OK, Matt, the country you deeply love might be a little old for you.

I don't see things getting any better for Matt Gaetz, at least going "by his whole vibe."
