This week, the first season of Invincible reached it's end. It's dramatic, gut wrenching and violent end.
Mark Grayson has learned his father Omni-Man is not who Mark or the rest of the world thought he was.
Omni-Man, super powered moral paragon and defender of the Earth, is a straight up murderer with less than benevolent intentions for the world.
Mark Grayson has a choice he cannot make and fight he cannot win and he can't avoid either of them.
Like the comic, the animated series defies expectations. The very look of the show, all glossy and brightly colored belies the realities of Invincible's world. The show looks like it should be hopeful and happy but then it grinds hope and happiness into the dust.
Omni_Man's betrayal of his son and his wife, of the other super heroes of the world, of everyone on Earth is devastating.
The epic battle between Invincible and Omni-Man is brutal. Blood is spilled and otherwise invulnerable bones crack.
And every physical blow is matched by the damage to Mark's soul, his faith, his trust.
We will get a chance to see how all this plays out in the future as Amazon has renewed Invincible of 2 more seasons. And it deserves it.
Invincible has been a great show that has been faithful to the source material but has made changes that have expanded the scope of the story. The expanded development of Mark's mother as a character is a welcomed improvement.
Next week on the Tuesday TV Touchbase, more super hero TV as we catch up with Supergirl.
OMG! Is Kara STILL in the Phantom Zone?!?!?!
Until next time, remember to be good to one another and to keep it down, would ya? I'm trying to watch TV over here.
