NOTE: Yes, the Super Bowl was yesterday. And I did watch it. I will write about it in a "This (Non) Sporting Life" post on Wednesday.

Boy do Republicans love to bitch, moan and complain about the so called "crisis at the southern border".
One might think the border between the United States and Mexico is like a scene from World War Z where veritable swarms of zombies are crawling over walls and shit.
To be fair, there are problems at the southern border with an increase in the numbers of people looking to escape poverty, murder, rape, torture and all in all just unrelenting despair in their shit hole countries. This large number of migrants is causing a lot of pressure on the resources of border agents.
Republicans in the House of Representatives pushed forth a measure to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for just not plain doing his job.
Marjorie Taylor Greene and her irksome ilk want you to think that while THIS is going on at the border with Mexico...
Mayorkas is sitting in his office playing Minesweeper all day.
(Is Minesweeper still a thing? I haven't played Minesweeper in years!)
Except there is no evidence that Mayorkas is NOT doing his job. It appears that the dude is doing what he can with what he has and he could use more.
Which he won't get.
Because...
OK, a few weeks back, both houses of Congress seemed to be on the precipice of working out the first real comprehensive border legislation in decades!
There was a lot of stuff that Republicans said they wanted such as restrictions on the number of people who can come in and even set a level where if numbers hit a certain amount, the border could be shut down.
There was NO mention of any kind of amnesty or paths to citizenship.
After bitching, moaning and complaining about the "crisis at the southern border", here was some bi-partisan legislation to do something about it.
President Joe Biden said he would sign the legislation and even promised to immediately use the powers provided by this legislation to shut down the border until we could get a handle on the numbers down there.
Republicans were getting what they wanted.
So what happened?
