Snow came to the Fortress of Ineptitude for the first time in 2024.
Andrea and I woke up to the fine dusting of snow on our car and our front lawn.
The snow didn't stick around long. By midday, it was mostly gone save for a few patches that stayed in the shade for the day.
Which is fine by me. Snow shows up, makes things look pretty and then goes away.
I noted in was the first snow of 2024. Yep, the winter months of January to March passed without nary a flake.
In fact, I'm hard pressed to remember when was the last time it snowed.
Here in the Piedmont of North Carolina, we can usually expect one or two decent snows a winter but these days no so much.
Area schools cancelled in person classes due to sub zero temperatures that made the slight amount of snow a potential slick and icy hazard on the roadways. Kids still had to go to class with virtual school online.
That's the world we live in these days. Not only do we get less snow but when it does snow, we can't even get a snow day out of it.
"Sorry the roads are too slick" doesn't cut it when you work from home.
It was a brief event but it was nice to have a sense that snow does still exist.
