Having gone to see Wicked in the theater on Thanksgiving, Andrea and I decided to take The Wizard of Oz out for a spin Friday night.
If you're looking for a summary of The Wizard of Oz in this post, well, come on. We all know the story. But if you do need a refresher, click below for the one minute animated summation of the classic film.
I've seen The Wizard of Oz dozens of times over the years and it remains a fondly remembered film but cynic that I am, well, even before I saw Wicked, I had questions.
There are several videos on Tik Tok set around the theme of Dorothy being pissed off at Glinda for not telling her from the beginning that she could click her heels and recite "there's no place like home" to get back to Kansas.
While Margaret Hamilton's portrayal of the Wicked Witch is considered iconic, one has to wonder who the real villain of this movie is.
The "Wicked" Witch of the East is dead.
Dorothy causes the death of the Wicked Witch of the West.
Dorothy is responsible for the Wizard leaving Oz.
Creating a power vacuum for someone to step in as the supreme ruler of Oz.
And that would be... Glinda!
I mourn for my childhood innocence lost to the infernal machinations of The Wizard Of Oz.
