Happy Anniversary

 

Today is Andrea and I's anniversary.

On this day 31 years ago, Andrea and I got married.

31 years? Seems longer.

Yeah, yeah, I know that sounds like an insult but really...

I do not have a lot of fond memories about life when I was single and I've shoved a lot of that mental stuff into storage and mostly forgotten about it.

Mostly my brain just assumes I've always been married to Andrea.

If you ask Andrea, our wedding was a joyous occasion.  

I felt less sure about the whole "joyousness" because it seems she cried through almost the whole damn thing. 

She says she was overcome with all the joy and beauty and love of the event.

I felt like to me she didn't want to be there. 

I think she was holding out hope that Bob Saget was the one waiting for her at the altar.

I remember she was radiant and beautiful when her father walked her up the aisle.  

I remember to this day what he said to me: "No take backs. She's your problem now."  

Then she started bawling. 

I felt like I might need to tell our guests, "Seriously, I am NOT coercing her into marriage! She's here willingly...I think."  

Well, willingly or not, she's still here. She's stuck by me when no other woman would.
