80,000 Pennies For Your Thoughts

Back on March 29, 2021, I wrote a post about one Miles Walker who paid a former employee   a final pay check of approximately $915.15 in the form of pennies.

That's right, 91,515 pennies weighing a total of 504 pounds, covered in grease with a "Fuck you" note attached.

It was a move that I wrote that made Miles Walker the veritable definition of asshole.

It seems Avery Sanford's father has seen that same dictionary entry.

When Avery turned 18, her dear old dad was off the hook for child support payments. He decided to celebrate his final child support payment by renting a trailer last month to cart his final payment, in the form of more than 80,000 pennies, over to her and her mother’s home to dump in front of their yard.

While Miles Walker tried to cowardly weasel his way out of taking credit for his actions ("I don’t know if I did that or not. I don’t really remember."), Avery's father seems to have realized he did a very stupid thing.

He admitted his emotions got the best of him and that the last thing he wanted to do was create more of a divide between him and his daughter.

Avery Sanford hasn’t spoken with her father in years and expressed disappointment in his actions.

But she and her mother turned this negative experience into a positive. Avery and her mom donated them to a local domestic abuse organization.

Cathy Easter, executive director of Safe Harbor in Richmond, said the center received $850 from the Sanford penny largesse.  But the story of the Sanford's experience prompted others to donate as well, nearly $5,000 on behalf of Avery and her mom.

A good thing came out of the selfish, childish stunt pulled by Avery's dad.

An asshole stunt leading to good things.

I'm sure Miles Walker would be disappointed.
