News of the World: Got To Condemn This Shit

The select Congressional panel investigating the events of January 6, 2021 have their work cut out for them as they probe the events leading up to and occurring on that fateful day when an army of enraged Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol.

There are persistent efforts to re-write history.

The Republican congressperson who insists that the people entering the Capitol that day were merely another tour group.

Or Donald Trump's daughter-in-law Lara Trump who suggested Donald was actually trying to sound the alarm bell before a mob of his supporters laid siege to the U.S. Capitol.

In an interview with Laura Ingraham. Li'l Donnie tried to hoe that "was trying to stop the riot" row as well.

Donald Trump attempted to spin his inflammatory speech ahead of the Jan. 6 insurrection into something much more mellow and measured on Friday night.

“Honestly, I have nothing to hide. I wasn’t involved in that. And if you look at my words and what I said in the speech, they were extremely calming, actually.”

Extremely calming?  Really?!?

The audacity of this urge to re-write history is that this is not something that occurred in some ancient time where records have crumbled to dust. This is living history that happened just under a year ago. We saw it with out own eyes.

This was an event recorded with many hours of video and audio as angry Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, breaking windows, vandalizing the building and brutally attacking Capitol police.

We have the record of Trump's "Give them hell" speech, clearly stoking an already angry mob. Extremely calming? Like hell.

There were a lot of people on January 6th who were anything but calm.

Such as Donald Trump Jr: “He’s got to condemn this shit ASAP.... It has gone too far and gotten out of hand.”

This was a message from Don Jr to his father's chief of staff, Mark Meadows, frantically trying to urge his father towards some form of order away from the chaos he had unleashed.

Why Trump Jr. was texting Meadows and not directly to his own father?

As much as it might be fun to blame it on "caller ID" (Donald wouldn't take Junior's calls), Mary Trump puts the blame squarely on cowardice.

"Donny knew that the message he was delivering was the message his father did not want to hear.”

"Cowardice" is the default setting for Donald Trump and his inner circle.

It's not just Don Jr's texts to Mark Meadows that have come to light recently due to the work of the select Congressional panel.

It seems various Fox "News" persons were also frantically texting Mark Meadows to get Donald Trump to do something to stop the chaos unfolding in front of them.

These same Fox "News" persons worried over what the perceived as a bad thing in their texts to Mark Meadows would later go on TV and espouse opinions like

  • It wasn't really that big of a deal.
  • The violence was instigated by Antifa plants.
  • The mob had every right to express themselves since the election was stolen.

And yada yada yada. '

And in addition to what was going on that date, the select panel investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection is looking into all the shit that went down before hand that got everybody worked up over this big lie.

For example the widely circulated power point created by James P. “Phil” Waldron, a retired Army colonel who helped allies of former President Donald Trump promote debunked claims about election fraud.

Committee’s chair Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.): “Mr. Waldron reportedly played a role in promoting claims of election fraud and circulating potential strategies for challenging results of the 2020 election. He was also apparently in communication with officials in the Trump White House and in Congress discussing his theories in the weeks leading up to the January 6th attack."

Among the Congress persons involved in this communication was Rep. Jim Jordan who on a daily basis challenges Sen.Ted Cruz for the coveted title of "Lying Fuck Bastard".

All in all, the picture being painted here by the select Congressional panel investigating the events of January 6, 2021 is one of collective malfeasance by Trump and his allies to promote the big lie that the election was stolen and to find ways to overrule the valid results of the 2020 election.

And Donald Trump instigated the uprising on January 6th and did nothing to stop it when violence erupted. He had little motivation to stop a violent movement he started in defense of his fragile ego.

But despite all the evidence of Trump's guilt and the complicity of his sycophants, the panel still has an up hill battle against resistance by Trump and his allies inside and outside Congress.

Sorry, the pandemic is still a thing.

Maybe worse?
