As we really, really, really hoped would not happen but we damn well knew it would because that's the world we live in now, the Omicron variant of the coronavirus has hit the United States hard, here to kick ass and chew gum and Omicron is out of gum!
Omicron is on the hook for 73% of new infections last week.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention numbers showed nearly a six-fold increase in omicron’s share of infections in only one week.
Why is the COVID-19 pandemic still a thing?
Why is it getting worse with variants?
Well, there are a lot of stupid people who still resist keeping their distance and wearing masks and getting the goddamn vaccine.
Get a load of this stupid shit: Donald Trump told a group of his supporters in Dallas TX that he gotten the vaccine booster shot, he got booed.
Mind you, he didn't say people have to get the shot.
He sure as hell didn't speak up in favor of vaccine mandates.
He got booed by his own knuckle dragging, mouth breathing, mentally deficient supporters for simply getting the shot.
Speaking of knuckle dragging, mouth breathing and mentally deficient, Sarah Palin dragged her sorry ass out of whatever roach motel she's been hiding in to declare she'll get the vaccine "over her head body".
Fox News habitually downplay COVID-19 risks to viewers and spreading specious rumors about vaccines.
But get a load of this steaming pile of hypocritical bullshit: Fox News employees in New York are required to be vaccinated against the virus.
The latest coronavirus progress can be tracked along political lines. Counties that are typically blue (vote Democrat) have lower infection rates and deaths than those areas that are red (vote Republican).
It is a discrepancy that has not escaped Pres. Joe Biden's notice when he had this to say:
“The unvaccinated are responsible for their own choices, but those choices have been fueled by dangerous misinformation on cable TV and social media. You know, these companies and personalities are making money by peddling lies and allowing misinformation that can kill their own customers and their own supporters. It’s wrong, it’s immoral. I call on the purveyors of these lies and misinformation to stop it. Stop it now.”
The problem is the pandemic has been cast as pawn for right wing nut cases for use against their enemies.
The formula works like this those on the right:
- Joe Biden says get vaccinated.
- Joe Biden is a Democrat.
- Therefore do not get vaccinated.
Of course the coronavirus and any of it's delta or omicron variants does not give one flying fuck who you voted for.
I was with my daughter when she got her vaccine booster shot a few days ago. I suppose if the left worked with the same logic...
- Donald Trump got his vaccine booster shot.
- Donald Trump is a fucking moron Republican.
- Therefore I am not getting a booster shot.
So this brings us back to this:

Why is it getting worse with variants?
Mostly stupid people who think that this pandemic is a political battle.
No, it is not. It's a battle for our lives.
