In Name Only

"The RINOs have no idea what this movement is all about. In fact, they are perhaps our biggest problem. We will never save our Country or be great again unless Republicans get TOUGH and get SMART!"

This is Donald Trump's latest pronouncement of the biggest threat in the world.

RINO stands for Republican In Name Only. 

Republicans calling another Republican a RINO has been a go to insult to any one in the Republican Party who is not 100% down with every single little thing the Republican Party either stands for or stands against.

And loathe as I am to admit, Donald Trump does have a valid point to the threat RINOs pose to the Republican Party. 

And there is no bigger RINO than Donald Trump. 

Donald Trump once said if he thought he could win as a Democrat, he would've run as a Democrat. 

Trump's status as a Republican is purely transactional. His brand of fear mongering toxic white supremacy aligns better with the modern Republican Party.  

If Donald Trump had run for President in the 1950s, he likely would've found a welcoming home in the Democratic Party as much as the Republican Party.  

Donald Trump has no allegiance to the Republican Party beyond whatever he can get out of the party to fuel is own narcissism and avenging his petty grievances.  

Jared Kuschner reportedly told the chairperson of the Republican Party, "I don't give a fuck about the future of the Republican Party!"

It's not too much of a stretch to imagine Jared's father in law feeling the same way.

Whenever Donald Trump has a choice to appease his own selfishness or do something for the good of the Republican Party, Trump will always choose himself.

In the run up to the Georgia Senate run off races earlier this year, the Republican Party really needed Trump to help get out the vote for these two candidates. With a Democrat coming in as President, Republicans needed a big voter push to keep the Senate from sliding into Democratic control. 

Instead, Trump refused to accept there was a Democratic President coming up next and continued to push his aggrieved narrative that the voting process was fixed and corrupt.  

Donald Trump is a Republican only to the extent that it suits his purpose.
