Expected Expectations

Last week in the special run off election in Georgia for US Senate, Democrat Raphael Warnock defeated Republican Herschel Walker. 

The election was close which is astonishing me in that the gap between the two candidates in terms of experience and intelligence was incredibly wide. 

Let's say your school board needs to pick a new school crossing guard for your local elementary school and you have two applicants for the job. 

One person has good eyesight, is ambulatory & likes kids.  

The other person is blind, can't walk & hates kids. AND is also mind staggeringly stupid. 

This was the Warnock/Walker match up. 

No, it shouldn't have been close.

But that's the modern Republican Party for you, blind cultish loyalty to whoever is on the ticket with an "R" beside their name.

And Republicans truly seemed to be gob-smacked that Walker lost.

Republicans are truly myopic in their political views. Right wing media has spent so much time and energy promoting the message that Democrats are tax increasing, baby aborting, gun taking, gay loving, woke liberals who HATE America, Republicans struggle with understanding a world where a candidate who is simply not a Democrat could possibly even lose.  

OK, so what if Herschel Walker was a mind staggeringly stupid man? Who cares as long as he's NOT a tax increasing, baby aborting, gun taking, gay loving, woke liberal who HATES America? 

Republican = automatic win, right?  

In the aftermath of Tuesday's election, Republicans have staggered dazed and confused into the sunlight trying to figure out where they went wrong.

Perhaps having a mind staggeringly stupid man as a candidate was a.... (checks notes)  bad idea?  

How did this mind staggeringly stupid man get on the ticket in the first place? 

For a party that has had it's lips firmly affixed to his backside for over 6 years, the quickly drawn and sharpened knives were out for Donald Trump as the mind staggeringly stupid son of a bitch who saddled the party with the mind staggeringly stupid Herschel Walker.  

Herschel Walker checked off the ONE box that Trump looks for in endorsing any candidate: loyalty to Donald Trump in the form of embracing the big lie that the 2020 election was fraudulent and the presidency was stolen from Li'l Donnie.  

Experience? Policy positions? Intelligence? Fuck that! 

Loyal to Donald Trump? We're off to the races! 

It was a litmus test for other candidates beside Herschel Walker over the course of the 2022 mid term elections and Walker wasn't the only candidate that did not pan out. 

Still, Republicans seem genuinely surprised that mind staggeringly stupid Herschel Walker lost.

So the blind, disabled, kid hating and mind staggeringly stupid person does NOT get to be the school crossing guard?

Who could've seen that coming?
