Not far from the Fortress of Ineptitude is a church with a sign out front with various pithy sayings about faith and stuff.
Last week, this was on their sign:
"Truth does not mind being questioned. A Lie does."
Well, actually for about a day, the sign read:
"Truth does not mind being questioned. A Lie dose."
Eventually the typo was corrected.
I'm not here to throw any stones at anyone for typos. This blog is loaded with typos.
Mostly I want to comment on the inherent wisdom of that statement.
For six plus interminably long years, we've had to put up with a certain perpetually perturbed man-baby who has whined and pouted every time anyone has had to the temerity to question anything about him.
Yes, we're talking about Donald Trump but not just Donald Trump but a whole bevy of Republicans who have twisted themselves in knots to avoid answering questions on a whole bevy of topics ranging from committing to exactly what their policy positions are to commenting on their connection to the January 6th insurrection.
But Donald Trump has made a full time job of looking to NOT answer any questions he doesn't want to answer.
Last week, Li'l Donnie lost one last battle to keep Congress from seeing his tax returns. The Supreme Court said yeah, Congress can see 'em. And the Treasury Department dutifully complied.
Trump was the first candidate and President to NOT release his tax returns since Nixon.
I doubt anyone should get their hope up for something like, "Charitable deductions to Russian oligarchs" or anything obvious like that.
I mean we all know in our gut that Trump is up to sketchy shit but I somehow doubt that will be revealed in those returns.
So why did Donald Trump fight so hard against the question, "Can we see your tax returns?"
I've commented on this before and I think it still applied that Trump is offended by the very question. He sees himself as a person of a certain level of rank and prestige afforded by his wealth and how dare anyone question him about anything.
And also of concern to Trump is those returns will put lie to his status as a person of a certain level of rank and prestige afforded by his wealth if those returns reveal he does not possess the wealth he claims to possess or the canny business acumen to gather or increase his wealth.
I expect the returns will reveal...
- he is NOT as wealthy as he says he is.
- he is NOT as successful as he asserts himself to be.
"Truth does not mind being questioned. A Lie does."
By the way, I was working on this post before the blow up of Trump's latest proclamation calling for "the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution."
What has got him into a snit again? It's the usual crybaby shit that the 2020 election was stolen (Wah! Wah! Wah!) and some stupid shit Elon Musk released on Twitter and...
Oh, fuck it! Click here and read about it yourself.
