The Unspeakable Speaker

The clusterfuck clown show that is the Republican Party in the House of Representatives reached a new low. 

Jim Jordan of Ohio is now the leading contender to be speaker of the House.

And that is just...  bad. 

• Jordan has been a particularly sniveling sycophant for Donald Trump. How much of an Trump ass kisser is he? Jordan once told Anderson Cooper on CNN, "I don't know that Trump has ever said something wrong that he needs to apologize for."
• Jordan tried to discredit investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
• He sought to prevent impeachment inquiries against Trump.
• Jordan supported lawsuits to challenge the 2020 election results 
• He voted not to certify the Electoral College results. 
• Jordan refused to cooperate with the U.S. House Select Committee on the January 6 insurrection under suspicions he was directly complicit in Trump's plan and schemes that led to the events of that day.  

Basically Jim Jordan is ever at the beck and call of whatever is needed in support of Donald Trump. Li'l Donnie would virtually have a hand puppet in charge of the U.S. House of Representatives if Jordan becomes Speaker of the House.  

Then there are his unflinching extreme hard right views.  Jim Jordan opposes any and all efforts to combat climate change, abortion, same sex marriage, anti-trust legislation (companies can be as big as they want and do what they want), the Affordable Healthcare Act and vaccine requirements. 

He is also an opponent of the truth.  

In 2022, Jordan asserted that the report of a 10-year-old Ohio girl traveling to Indiana to obtain a legal abortion after being raped was a lie. Meanwhile, the police arrested the rapist who confessed to the crime and police confirmed that the report of her abortion in Indiana was accurate.

As chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jordan is engaged in legal action against researchers at universities, think tanks and private companies that study disinformation. Jordan thinks they are just bunch a big ol' meanies towards conservatives (or in order words, Donald Trump).   

Jim Jordan as Speak of the U.S. House of Representatives is just...  bad. 

I'm trying to think of an apt metaphor.

It's like if Batman saved Gotham City from the Joker only to have Kite-Man take over as mayor? Maybe?

It's just... bad. 

And we're not done yet.
