An Intelligent Man?

Yesterday I wrote that with the cancellation of Julia  (MAX), David Hyde Pierce will need a new excuse to not appear on the Frasier reboot.

What did I mean by that?

Well...

In 2023, Paramount+ released a revival of the classic sitcom Frasier with Kelsey Grammer back as the titular psychiatrist but without David Hyde Pierce as his brother Niles.

There were story considerations for Niles being absent from the new series. Frasier Crane has moved back to Boston and Niles and Daphne are still living in Seattle.  Would be kind of hard to bring back Niles.

But Peri Gilpin (Roz Doyle) popped in for a visit as did Bebe Neuwirth (as Frasier's ex-wife Lillith) but no appearances from Niles.

David Hyde Pierce is just too darn busy making Julia.

But is that the only reason?

David Hyde Pierce is gay and has been married to his husband for many years.

Kelsey Grammer is a lifelong Republican and the Republican Party is on a major push against the LGBTQ+ community.

OK, maybe Grammer is one of those rare remaining Republicans who does not get a hard on from scoring culture war attacks against LGBTQ+ people.

Well, do you know WHO Grammer still has a hard on for?

Yep, Kelsey Grammer supports Donald Trump.

Grammer was on the BBC recently doing an interview to promote the new Frasier series when he spoke openly about his continued support for Donald Trump. The interview got cut off but it wasn't censorship by the BBC. Apparently a handler from Paramount+ went bug nuts to cut off the interview.

So why no Niles on the new FrasierDavid Hyde Pierce can blame being busy with Julia but I also can't help to think he doesn't want to be associated with Kelsey Grammer and his riff raff Republicans.

I think David Hyde Pierce is just a nice guy and too much a gentleman to say that. So Julia provided good cover for not being on the new Frasier

So now what?

I can't express how disappointed I am in Kelsey Grammer. Look, I know Kelsey is an actor and the intellectual sophisticate Frasier Crane is just a role he plays but Kelsey has also struck me as an intelligent man.

An assessment belied by his support of Donald Trump. Trump is so OBVIOUSLY a stupid person, a petulant man child lacking in wisdom, intelligence, empathy, patience and grace. His mangled syntax and meandering speeches alone should disqualify him from the support of an intelligent man.

Is Kelsey Grammer NOT an intelligent man?

Grammer is not the only one supporting Trump despite his multiple deficiencies.

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu has voiced his objections to Donald Trump many times. The governor seemed to be an intelligent man who clearly saw the obvious shortcomings and deficits of character of Trump.

Last week, he announced he would support Donald Trump if he's the Republican nominee, even if he's convicted of any of the Federal indictments against him.

As best I can understand the logic, Donald Trump is ahead in the polls so let's get behind the winner.

Even if the winner is hand in hand with the devil himself?

And Gov. Sununu isn't alone. Over the last 2 weeks, several Republicans who have been at least luke warm to Trump's candidacy or at the most outright opposed to it have given their support to Donald Trump as the defacto nominee of the Republican Party.

It's that kind of transactional morality that pushed me away from being a registered Republican for many years.

OK, you wanna win and beat Democrats.

But is this the price you want to pay?

Have you no shame?

At long last, have you no shame?

And I am looking at you, Republican voters in Iowa who pushed Trump to the win in the Iowa caucus.

Are you NOT intelligent?

Have you NO shame?

Is it worth not having David Hyde Pierce be friends with Kelsey Grammer?

Will Frasier be bereft of his brother Niles because an otherwise intelligent man swears fealty to an unintelligent moron?

Again,David Hyde Pierce has not said one word to indicate a political rift with his former co-star.

But given that co-star's affiliation with a party that would repudiate David's rights and freedom as a gay man, I can't help to believe that rift exists.

Meanwhile, Andrea and I are NOT watching the new Frasier.
