Days of Infamy Ain't What They Used To Be

This past Saturday was the 3rd anniversary of the assault on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021 by an angry mob of Donald Trump supporters.

It is a day that is burned into my memory, the sinking and sickening realization that rage and chaos were threatening to overturn the peaceful and orderly transfer of power.

It is a day that should live in infamy.

And it does.

Unless you're a hard core MAGA hat wearing Republican.

Recent polling has shown the number of Republicans who believe that Trump's rightful victory in the 2020 election was stolen by fraud has been increasing? Really?

And that the events of that day were not an assault and an insult to our history and to our American way of life but are seen as a noble expression of valid outrage against a fraudulent election.

The people who have been tried, convicted and imprisoned for their involvement in this violent desecration are viewed as "hostages".

It's like if on December 7th, 1944, people tried to convince us the Japanese came to Hawaii for a vacation jaunt to fly kites and set off some fireworks for fun.

Oh hell no!

Listen to me you obsequious toads in the Republican Party, I KNOW what I saw on January 6th.

I KNOW what I heard on that day.

Do NOT dare to tell me differently, that the angry mob that Trump fomented to give expression to his thin skinned failure to accept defeat with grace and dignity was just a pleasant visit by citizens who wanted to calmly expresss some concerns to their congressmen.

What happened on that day made January 6th, 2021 as much a day of infamy as the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. The only difference was for one, the attack on America came from without and the other, it came from within.

Or maybe days of infamy just ain't what they used to be.

This really DID happen!
This really was a BAD thing!
