Mark Robinson Must NEVER Be Governor

Before I get to today's state politics post, let's take a moment to consider yesterday's announcement that Vice President Kamala Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be her running mate.  

Of all the eminently qualified people Harris was considering, Walz was at the top of my list. Check out this video of interviews with Walz.  

Donald Trump responded to the announcement that Tim Walz "will unleash HELL ON EARTH!" 

As far as your petty ignorant world, Li'l Donnie, I reckon he just might.  

Now on from national political stuff to state political fuckery.

Today’s post reflects on what is going on my own home state of North Carolina.

 

Due to term limits, current governor Roy Cooper could not seek re-election which is a damn shame because I think he has been a damn fine governor. During the height of the COVID outbreak in 2020, Cooper was a steady hand meeting the crisis with professionalism and compassion.

 

This year, the governor’s mansion is up for grabs between Democrat Joel Stein and Republican Mark Robinson.

 

Stein is the state’s current Attorney General and has a record of accomplishments to run on. As AG, he oversaw the completion of untested rape kits and put several rapists behind bars.  He took on the fentanyl crisis holding those pushing these drugs to account.

 

Robinson is the state’s current Lt. Governor and he’s running on nothing but bluster and tripe.

 

Tripe first.  He’s got an ad running where he’s strolling through a presumably poor neighborhood reminding voters (leaning real hard into a thick southern accent) that he knows what it’s like to grow up poor and when he’s governor, he won’t forget where he came from. 

 

Meaning…?

 

The bluster is his stance on a number of hot button issues. Like abortion.

 

He’s against it. No exceptions.  As he puts it, it ain’t right that woman can keep their skirt pulled down. 

 

The bluster against women’s rights come from a series of anti-Robinson ads with women staring sternly into the screen, listening to this moron’s tirades against women and reiterating what is stated in bold bright text: Mark Robinson Must NEVER Be Governor.  

 

As much of a son of a bitch this fucking moron is towards women, if you happen to be any part of the LGBTQ+ alphabet, he has absolutely zero tolerance for you.  

Who is this idiot and how did he get here?

 

How else? Donald Trump.  During the primary, Robinson defeated 2 better qualified candidates by obtaining the blessed endorsement of Donald Trump. 

 

Li’l Donnie has this view that black people will always vote for black people and if all the good white Christians hold their noses and vote for the black guy too,  well, that guy wins.   

 

Except it doesn’t work like that. 

 

It didn’t work for Hershel Walker for the Senate race in Georgia 2 years ago. Walker had NO experience in government and NO agenda other than he liked Donald Trump.

 

Robinson vaulted into politics based on a social media tirade against gun regulation which won over the MAGA faithful and somehow he wound up as Lt. Governor. 

 

Which is why Roy Cooper could not have been Kamala Harris’s Vice Presidential running mate.

 

The rules in North Carolina are that if the Governor is out of the state, the Lt. Governor automatically becomes acting governor and with a super majority Republican legislature backing him up, there is a lot of shit that Robinson could get up to in whatever brief matter of hours Roy might have been out of the state campaigning for Harris.  

So Mark Robinson is a blustering nut case with no real accomplishments in public service.

Oh, CRIMES! I almost forgot.

Mark Robinson and his wife are connected to crimes.

They were cited for a poorly run day care with safety  hazards, unreliable electricity and poor plumbing.

They've also been charged with skimming a shit ton of money from government programs designed to help hungry children but instead lining their pockets with exorbitant salaries and unjustified expenses. 

This legally sketchy right wing nut case is a candidate for governor all because Donald Trump decided to endorse this idiot.  

And no other reason. 

Mark Robinson lacks the education, ethics and temperament to be governor.  

As the commercials say,  Mark Robinson Must NEVER Be Governor!
