Weird Politics

Yeah, it’s another political post. Sorry about that but we’ve got some weird stuff to cover.

 

For example the word “weird”. 

 

It seems Kamala Harris and other Democrats have taken to calling Donald Trump, J D Vance and others in the right wing nut brigade “weird”.

 

The Republican response? “Yeah! Well, Democrats are…   are…   weirder! Yeah, that’s it!” 

Then Trump told a Christian group to vote him this year and they would never have to vote again.

Because....?

 Then Li'l Donnie told another group they didn't need to vote for him because everything is fine and he's gonna win anyway and...

Yeah, that's weird.

Speaking of weird, what about that meet up between Donald Trump and the National Association of Black Journalists last week?  

 

Li’l Donnie immediately went on the petulant defensive and lashed out the panel of reporters (all women of color) for asking questions that what were "mean" and "rude".  

 

Most normal people looking at this meltdown would see 3 professional women doing their jobs as journalists and Li’l Donnie unable to cope with actually being asked substantive questions or providing substantive answers. 

 

Out there in the rural hinterlands among the pool halls and trailer parks, the most faithful of the Trump cultists saw their heroic leader standing up to mean women who were (I will assure this word was used) “uppity”.  Followed by a more egregious word beginning with the letter "n".  

Which is why it's so hard to do damage to Donald Trump. What would be a bug for anyone else ("Geez! That was racist!") becomes a feature for the MAGA cultists. ("Wow! That was heroic!")  

 

And Trump claimed he didn’t know Kamala Harris was black. He thought she was Indian. 

 

One of Kamala’s parents was Indian and the other was African American.

 

This is too hard a concept for Trump’s small mind to grasp.     

 

Several Republicans have cringed at the racial attacks but appointed lackey J D Vance doubled down on the alleged ambiguity of Kamala’s race.

 

By the way, Vance keeps digging a hole with his views about women that are extreme and well, just plain weird. 

 

Meanwhile, how are things with Kamala Harris? 

 

So far, so good.  Money keeps rolling in and polling keeps trending a positive direction. But there is much work to still be done.

 

A lot of projections have Harris beating Trump soundly in the popular vote.

 

But you may recall that’s not how we pick a President and yeah, the current projection of the Electoral College still gives Trump an  edge.

 

Over the last quarter century, we have twice elected a President (2000 and 2016) who did not win the popular vote. 

 

I know Alexander Hamilton thought the Electoral College was a good idea at the time but surely this is NOT what he intended. 

 

And Kamala is moving forward with her selection for her Vice Presidential running mate.

 

By the time I this posts, I think we will know and I will update that here.

Kamala Harris has selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her Vice Presidential running mate. 

Political fuckery is not just  happening on the national stage.
