Well, the goddam grim reaper was busy this weekend.
At Brown University in Providence, R.I., on Saturday, Dec. 13, a mass shooting killed two people. Nine people with gunshot wounds were taken to Rhode Island Hospital.
This is the second mass shooting for Brown University student Zoe Weissman who was 12 years when she survived the 2018 mass shooting in Parkland, FL.
If she survives 3 more, she'll get a free pizza.
Now, this is not the time and place for that kind of nonsense but come on! No one in positions of authority is taking gun violence seriously if someone can lay claim to surviving multiple mass shootings.
Meanwhile, half a world away in Australia, father and son gunmen opened fire during a Hanukkah celebration on Sydney’s Bondi Beach, killing 15 people.
The dead include victims between 10 and 87 years-old. At least 42 others were being treated at hospitals, several of them in a critical condition.
That is a lot of people hurt and dead because someone thought to address their perceived problems with a gun.
We certainly need someone to step up and eloquently give expression to our grief.
That great compassionate elocutor of peace who knows all the best words, Donald Trump, offered.... whatever this is in response to the shooting at Brown.
“Brown University, great school, really one of the greatest schools anywhere in the world. Things can happen, so to the nine injured, get well fast. And to the families of those two who are no longer with us, I pay my deepest regards and respects from the United States of America. Thank you very much. It’s a very important thing to say. And we mean it.”
Trump also mentioned the deadly attack in Australia on Sunday saying he wanted to “pay his respects to everybody.”
In addition to “paying his respects to everybody”, Trump made additional remarks on how great the country is doing right now, claiming America is “leading” in A.I., the economy is doing well, and that the 2020 election was “rigged.”
“Leading” in A.I." means his billionaire pals told him that the fix is in, A.I. is going to take over all our jobs and poor people will be turned into food.
OK, this also is not the time and place for that kind of nonsense but damn it, Trump brought it up.
