Today is the first day of Daylight Savings Time for 2019.
And once again I am prompted to ask the same question I ask every damn time we do a time change:
Why the fuck are we still doing this to ourselves?
It doesn't help farmers.
It doesn't help control energy usage.
It doesn't help school children.
Is there any who really needs us to move the clocks up an hour once a year then move the clocks back an hour later in the fall?
Time change is a bitch.
It makes people cranky. Well, it makes me cranky for damn sure. OK, I'm always cranky. Fine, it makes me MORE cranky then!
Studies show car accidents go up after a time change.
People are under undo stress making them more prone to heart attacks and strokes.
And here's another stupid thing. The time between the fall back and spring forward that we refer to as "standard time" is not even the standard, it's the exception. Think about it. From the first week of November to the first week of March constitutes about 4 months or 1/3 of the total yearly calendar. The majority of the year is spent under the alleged exception to the standard. So, ipso facto, to my mind, that makes the exception the actual standard.
Of the time changes, I hate spring forward the most. I hate that it's still day light at 7 PM. God intended for us to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy inside with the lights on because it's supposed to be dark outside when Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy are on.
IT TAKES ALL NIGHT FOR IT TO GET DARK!!!
Still, as much as I hate spring forward, I think we need to pick one time or the other and stick with it. With this last time change, we don't fuck with the clocks again. Or give us one more fall back but then stick with that. Whichever one we choose, choose it, accept it and leave it the hell alone.
Because do you know the answer to the question of why the fuck are we still doing this to ourselves? The answer is "we don't know! It's just something we do to torture ourselves for no apparent damn reason!"
