Tuesday TV Touchbase: Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, What If...? and Star Trek: Lower Decks

Before we get into this week's Tuesday TV Touchbase, let's take a moment to congratulate Melissa Joan Hart for pulling off a game show miracle and actually winning $1 million for her charity on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.

Landing on the million dollar wedge, winning the wedge, keeping the wedge through the rest of the game and then carrying it into the final round and then solving the puzzle and then landing on the actual million dollar part of the wheel. I'm sure someone has done the math but I imagine the odds are quite astronomically high on making all that happen.

But Melissa pulled it off Sunday night.

Given that she is the former Sabrina the Teenage Witch, should we suspect some magic was involved?

What If...? ended it's first season a couple of weeks ago. I've seen a lot of commentary that this show was the most uneven of the MCU series on Disney+.  But some uneveness is kind of baked into the very premise as week after week, a different part of the MCU got an alternative take with varying results.

I know "What If...Thor was an only brother?" had it's detractors but it is a lot of fun. We needed the laughs after watching the MCU get overrun by zombies.  The zombie entry was a bit of a downer (of course) but one of the better episodes of the season.

The season finale sees the Watcher breaking his vow of non-interference and gathering various heroes from various timelines within the multiverse to stave off a multiverse level threat from an Ultron hopped up on Infinity stones.

It's big, epic and messy just like a classic comic book crossover event.  As a comic book fan, I enjoyed the season finale.

And props to the animators for bringing Kirby Krackle into the MCU.

Kirby Krackle (sometimes called Kirby Dots) was an effect used by Jack Kirby to give energy some extra heft and power.

This season of What If...? comes to a full and proper end.

The same cannot be said for the 2nd season finale of Star Trek: Lower Decks

It's a fun, light hearted animated show that can't possibly hurt me.

<30 minutes later>

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?

They did WHAT to the Cerritos?!?!

What happened to the Pakleds?!?!

Capt. Freeman did what to who when where now?!?!

Wait a god damn minute here... What?

WHAT?!?!

TO. BE. CONTINUED?!?!?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?

I have never been so blindsided by a season finale since season 3 of Star Trek: The Next Generation and the abrupt cliffhanger of "The Best of Both Worlds- Part 1"

TO. BE. CONTINUED?!?!?

REALLY?!?!

<deep breath>

Tonight is the season finale for Only Murders In the Building.

They better not hurt me! Do NOT leave me hanging on who killed Tim Kono until next season!

Until next time, remember to be good to one another and try to keep it down in there, would ya? I'm trying to watch TV over here.
