Doctor Who Will Be NEW!

So the news last week for Doctor Who was a mixed bag.

 

Disney+ will NOT be renewing it’s deal to produce more new Doctor Who.

From that story, I think I understand Disney's position but I wonder how many of it's problems were self inflicted.  

Still, the idea that Disney dumped the Doctor because MAGAheads were offended by "wokeness", well, that just pisses me off. 

Meanwhile...

 

We still have the UNIT spin off, “The War Between the Land and the Sea”. 

 

And I’m not sure when that’s coming. I saw a report that said that series was dropping “this year” but another that said it was coming in 2026.

 

But as to fate of the main series itself…..

 

There will be NEW Doctor Who next year.

 

We will have to wait awhile to get it but there will be a new Doctor Who Christmas special for 2026.

 

The special will be written by Russell T Davies and starring…?

 

No news on that but I expect Billie Piper will show up for at least a little bit to resolve whatever was going on with the Doctor’s regeneration.

 

Is she the Doctor or not? We have no idea at this time. 

 

And the BBC said there will be another season following the Christmas special. 

 

What we don’t know is how pray tell the rest of the world will get to see that Christmas special or anything else to follow.

 

I suppose the good news is that Doctor Who is NOT dead and there is life in the old girl* yet.

 

*Been watching some season 12 classic Doctor Who where companion Harry Sullivan had a propensity of calling Sarah Jane Smith “old girl” and Sarah had a propensity for threatening to punch Harry if he didn’t stop calling her “old girl”.  

 

While the continued NOT death of Doctor Who has been confirmed, there remains so much more for Whovians to wildly speculate about.  

 

15 months between now and NEW Doctor Who is a very long time and it’s standard Whovian procedure to fill the time with wild speculation.
