Ice In North Carolina

Last week during a particularly frigid cold snap, snow came to North Carolina.

Nothing here at the Fortress of Ineptitude but points west saw snow.

Snow was in Charlotte.

This week, it's ice.

Or should I say ICE?

Well, guys, I guess it's North Carolina's turn.

I've noticed news stories referring to these operatives as "Border Patrol" instead of the more inflammatory term of "ICE".

Whatever their name, why are they here in the Tarheel State?

According to the Department of Homeland Secuirty, people should be able to go about their lives without being killed by violent illegal aliens.

Well, I can't say I disagree with that.

But...

How much of a problem is that in Charlotte?

Is there really an epidemic of violent crime in Charlotte being perpetrated by people in this country illegally?

It appears one such murderous miscreant was attending church in Charlotte on Saturday where masked federal agents arrived and detained one congregant.

A 15 year witness said, “We thought church was safe and nothing [was] gonna happen. But it did happen.”

No, child, church is not safe.

Nowhere really is safe.

As best I can tell, Charlotte ticks off the boxes that are important to Donald Trump.

  • A city that is predominanty Democratic.
  • Led by Democratic mayor.
  • Who is also a woman.
  • Of color.

It's the sort of demograhic snapshot that make Li'l Donnie wanna fondle himself.

As for the alleged threat in Charlotte, as always DHS provides no factual data for it's assessment of alleged dangers in that city, just heated rhetoric hiding behind "keeping Americans safe".

Funny how no one in Charlotte feels safe now.

So far, ICE hasn't made it up the interstate to Greensboro yet.

My wife worries about an assistant pastor at her church who is here legally on a visa. I wish I could tell her not worry but experience has taught us that for a Spanish speaking person, being "here legally on a visa" and in a church is no protection.

The weather has taken a more temperate turn after last week's big chill.

So why does it still feel so cold in North Carolina?
