Tuesday TV Touchbase

Let's do a Tuesday TV Touchbase on what Andrea and I are watching here in the Fortress of Ineptitude.

Supergirl
This past Sunday was one of those "light on the main cast" stories we get every year right before the big CW Arrowverse crossover. This Sunday put the spotlight on Lena Luthor and her relationship with Andrea Rojas.

And if you're thinking that doesn't sound like gripping television, well, it isn't but it is quite illuminating. We see Lena once more getting her trust seriously abused and betrayed by someone she regarded as a friend, which really underscores why she's so pissed off at Kara Danvers right now.  Man, that poor girl is always being lied to by her best friends.

And we finally get some damn insight into the malevolent influence of Leviathan. Those guys are sneaky, evil and do not fool around.

By the time the episode ends, everyone has heard the name "Leviathan" which is a bit overdue as they're supposed to be big bad this season.

Batwoman
This show has improved measurably since it's premiere. This past Sunday's episode was a villain of the week outing which is not a bad thing. As much as the Kate vs. Alice Who Is Also Kate's Sister Beth dynamic drives this show, it can't be all that it is.

This week's threat is the Executioner whose targets are people who have sent wrongly convicted people to prison or sentences them to death. The episode deals with the disconnects that can happen between law (the Gotham City Police) and order (the draconian actions of the hi-tech Crows) and justice (what Batwoman is looking to bring to the table).

I think if this show can develop more about why Batwoman is important and her unique contribution to keeping Gotham safe, this series might actually be worth something.

There are concerns that Batwoman is not delivering the ratings to sustain itself as an ongoing concern. Maybe Batwoman might get some kind of post-Crisis bump.

By the way, while Arrow and Flash have being working towards Crisis on Infinite Earths, neither Supergirl or Batwoman has dropped even so much as a hint that it's coming.

Perfect Harmony
Andrea seems to still enjoy this show. I tolerate it for whenever Bradley Whitford and Anna Camp share screen time. The supporting cast is doing zilch for me.

Young Sheldon
I'm finding this show to still be surprisingly sweet as well as actually funny.

The Good Place
As much as I love this show, yes, Michael Shur, you are right and it is time to go. This whole premise of redoing the original experiment has not made much of an impression on me.

As long as the focus is on Eleanor, Tahani, Jason, Chidi, Michael and Janet, I'm good. The others, not so much.

Well, the experiment redo has come to an end as the clock as run down on that effort.

Word is the series finale will air in January with a 90 minute special.

Stumptown
Really loving this show. A Rockford Files for the 21st century as Cobie Smulders' Dex continues to screw up and grow as a private eye.

And it looks like Dex's bi-sexuality survived from the comics with a recent episode involving a former girlfriend.

And that's a touchbase on what Andrea and I are watching here in the Fortress of Ineptitude.
