"Eradicated," He Said

At the 2023 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Michael Knowles was delivering a speech when he had this to say:  “The problem with transgenderism is not that it’s inappropriate for children under the age of 9. The problem with transgenderism is that it isn’t true.  If it is false, then for the good of society... transgenderism must be eradicated from public life entirely!"

"Eradicated," he said.

And the crowd cheered.

There are an estimated 1.6 million trans people in the United States. Knowles and his cheering audience at CPAC believe these people should not have a right to exist.

"Eradicated," he said.

Eradicate sounds a lot like exterminate.

Like how the Daleks on Doctor Who want to exterminate all that is not Dalek.

Or from the genocidal tragedy of history of how Hitler's Nazis wanted to remove all that was not like them. Hitler's calls for "eradication" wiped out 6 million Jews in the Holocaust.

"Eradicated," Michael Knowles said to the cheers of the crowd.

Those people who would have "eradicated" are in fact people.

Jeopardy champion Amy Schneider and actor Elliott Page just to name 2 famous examples that popped in my head

My daughter's friends. These are people I know.

These are people I care about!

These are PEOPLE!

People who are American citizens who are deserving of the rights of all Americans to live theirs lives with the blessings of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

To say that "transgenderism must be eradicated" is to marginalize 1.6 million American citizens, to say to these citizens that their rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are lesser than those of the rest of America.

They are NOT lesser than the rest of America,

They ARE America! As much as anyone in this country regardless of race, religion, sex, gender and whatever else people would seek to divide us by.

"Eradicated," Michael Knowles said to the cheers of the crowd.

1.6 million American citizens are under attack by forces that rely on hate and fear.

History has shown that those who employ hate and fear do not stand the test of time and are doomed to failure in the end. But not before doing a lot of damage before reaching that end.

Michael Knowles and his cheering crowd are destined to fail but only if we stand up to this unconscionable call for this terrible course of action.

"Eradicated," he said.

Not on my damn watch!
