Doctor Who Day!

Hi there! Welcome to Doctor Who Day!

56 years ago, on November 23, 1963, Doctor Who flickered across TV screens for the first time.

And what do we have for you for this Doctor Who Day?

Wow! Doctor Who news!

Over the last week, we finally learned some things about Doctor Who Series 12.

One is when it will premier.  The season launches on New Year’s Day with part 1 of a 2 part episode.

And then, part 2 will air a mere 3 days later on Saturday, January 4th.

No episodes for a whole year then we get 2 over the course of 4 days? Feast or famine, that’s life in Doctor Who fandom.

A lot of hype around this one. “Biggest Doctor Who story ever”?  Stephen Fry is a guest star?

Chris Chibnall confirms the Cybermen will be in the new season along with the Jundoon.

We kind of already knew about the Cybermen thanks to a handy dandy photo taken by a handy dandy fan in the Welsh countryside.

He said nothing about the Daleks. We saw them on a bridge in Cardiff with a film crew. Again, we shouldn’t assume things. Maybe the Daleks were filming a cameo for an episode of the Crown.

Chibnall also said he’s working on Series 13 and addressed the rumors of chaos behind the scenes and his departure from the series as a total lie.

Looking to the future, HBO Max, the new streaming service debuting in 2020, will be carrying Doctor Who including the prior 11 series of the revived series and through the Series 15. Which bodes well for the future of Doctor Who. I would caution this is not a guarantee. HBO Max agreeing to carry Doctor Who through Series 15 does not mean the BBC has to actually produce those series. But I imagine whatever funds the BBC is getting from the HBO Max deal is a very strong incentive to keep the show going.

Also for Doctor Who Day, we're supposed to be getting a trailer for Series 12. If so, I will update this post when that happens.

Happy Doctor Who Day, everybody!

And as the Doctor would want us to do, remember to be good to one another.
