Songs For Saturday: Australia In the 1980's with Men At Work, Pseudo Echo and the Church

The play list for today' Songs For Saturday was going to be a random selection of songs.

But I accidentally fell into a theme: bands from Australia in the 1980's.

Starting off today's play list is my favorite song by Men At Work, "Overkill".

Written by lead singer Colin Hay,  "Overkill" was a departure from the group's style of reggae-influenced pop rock.

Our next song began life at the height of discomania by a group called Lipps Inc.  In 1986, Australia's Pseodo Echo gave "Funky Town" a prop rock spin.

Just like for Lipps Inc, "Funky Town" was Pseodo Echo's only hit.

Next up is a song by the Church, an Australian alternative rock band who released "Under the Milky Way" in 1988.

"Under the Milky Way" is hands down one my favorite all time songs by anybody.

Well, crikey, that brings us to the end of another Songs For Saturday and that's fair dinkim.

Until next time, remember to be good to one another and to always keep the music alive.
