Tuesday TV Touchbase: What We Do In the Shadows

I want to talk about the season finale of What We Do In the Shadows. But my daughter who reads this blog hasn't caught up on season 3 yet. So I can't talk about...

Who dies!

Who threatens who!

Who leaves!

Who betrays who!

So my daughter who is too busy with college taking classes and learning things and working at a science center and having friends and doing things with her friends can't make time to finish What We Do In the Shadows to help out her poor old dad write his blog that nobody reads.

Does that seem fair to you?

Friends?!? HA! Who needs 'em? I don't! That's why I have so much time to watch TV!!

Today we're posting about What We Do In the Shadows as I endeavor to avoid any specific spoilers surrounding the season finale.

At the end of last season when Nadja, Laszlo, Nandor and Colin Robinson were lured into a death trap by the Vampiric Council, Guillermo De La Cruz comes to the rescue, saving his vampire friends by slaughtering most of the vampires on the council but revealing his true colors as a vampire hunter.

The upshot of Guillermo killing most of the Vampiric Council is that there is now an opening for the Vampiric Council for the American Eastern Seaboard.  Those positions will be filled by Nadja, Laszlo, Nandor and Colin Robinson.

Nadja and Nandor are appointed co-leads of the council which goes about as well as one expects. They agree to take turns in the leadership role which means that when it's Nadja's turn to be in charge, she overrules what shit Nandor did the day before and when it's Nandor's turn as leader, he puts all the shit back.

Lazlo, of course, does not give a flying fuck about any of this other than wanking off to the vintage porn he finds in the vast archives of the Vampiric Council for the American Eastern Seaboard.

Also Lazlo seems to be spending a lot of time with Colin Robinson. Colin has turned introspective, seeking to learn more about himself and what it means to be an energy vampire. Where do energy vampires come from? How do they come to be?

Since Lazlo is notoriously self absorbed and infamously devoid of any fucks to give beyond whatever serves his own pleasure, why is he spending so much time with Colin Robinson?

Maybe it's because Nadja is no fun to be around. She's either in charge of the Vampiric Council for the American Eastern Seaboard fixing Nandor's shit or not in charge and bitching about whatever shit Nandor is up to.

And Nandor's on a downward spiral. Being a leader was so much easier when he was Nandor the Relentless, the bloodthirsty leader of Al-Quolanudar when was free to do all the beheading and raping and pillaging he wanted. He can't do any of that as co-leader of the Vampiric Council for the American Eastern Seaboard and whatever he gets to do, Nadja's fucking it up the next day when it's her turn to lead.

Nandor is also unlucky at love. Meg who works the night shift at the Planet Fitness where Nandor likes to work out rebuffs his advances.  She says she's a lesbian. And she really might be.

Gail also hurts Nandor.

And then Nandor begins to question the meaning and purpose of existence after he discovers The Big Bang Theory (and yes, I do mean the TV show.)

So Nandor is super-depressed.

Lazlo's being nice to Colin Robinson for some reason.

And Nadja is a complete wreck in a leadership role where she is receiving absolutely zero support.

And Guillermo is...

Well, Guillermo is Guillermo.

Guillermo is still the hyper competent guy who cleans, fixes and organizes everything while all the vampires in the Staten Island residence remain oblivious to.

But there is a darker edge to Guillermo than we've seen before, a master manipulator. The household vampires hypnotize Guillermo to hold his vampire hunter tendencies in check.  Except Guillermo tells the camera crew that he only pretends to be hypnotized.

It's a pretty solid season with a lot of laughs and some genuine shocks which ends with...

)))))))))))))) dead!  What the hell?

)))))))))) threatens )))))))!  "You're only alive because I let you live!" DAMN!

))))))) leaves! So does ))))))!  What the fuck?

)))))) betrays )))))))! And )))))))))))))!  Damn, hell and fuck!!!

Season 4 of What We Do In the Shadows is currently in production and man, do they have a lot to unravel from the events of season 3!

Coming up on the blog tomorrow: Doctor Who Is NEW!

Next week, on the ol' Touchbase we catch up on the season finale of Stargirl.

Which Randie doesn't care about so we can talk freely.

Until next time, remember to be good to one another and try to keep it down in there, would ya? I'm trying to watch TV over here.

Today's post has been brought to you in part by a grant from the Vampiric Council for the American Eastern Seaboard. America, leading the world in blood suckers for over 200 years!
