Flushed With Excitement

We are flushed with excitement here at the Fortress of Ineptitude with the installation of the new toilet in the master bathroom here at the fortress.

The new toilet is quieter and more efficient than the old toilet. It also sits slightly higher off the ground which is easier on the old creaking knees of my wife Andrea and myself.

The old toilet was perfectly serviceable except it wouldn't stop flushing. The old toilet needed a new fill valve which I purchased from Home Depot for only $8.00. But despite a very friendly and helpful video on You Tube on how you (yes, YOU) can swap out the fill valve on your toilet, I was unable to swap out the fill valve on our toilet. Andrea took a crack at it but success eluded us.

Screw it, let's just get a new toilet. And double dog screw it, we'll have it installed.

For the lack of the ability to install an $8.00 part, we spend $250+ on a new toilet and the privilege of having someone else put in for us.

So we went online and picked out a new Kohler brand toilet that looked sufficient for peeing, pooping and occasionally
vomiting in. In the nicer homes I've been in, Kohler seems to be a fairly ubiquitous brand of toilet.

The process went fairly smoothly. The toilet was delivered last Thursday as promised and the plumber arrived Monday as promised. His name was Jeff and he was very efficient, removing the old toilet quickly and installing the new model in what I must presume was a professional manner. So far, everyone who lives in the Fortress of Ineptitude has "christened" the new toilet and so far, it hasn't fallen over sideways or crashed through the floor.

It also stops flushing when it's done flushing. That's a big plus.

Jeff, bless his heart, offered no commentary as he ventured through the clutter infested innards of the Fortress of Ineptitude. If he assumed this was a home for a family of raccoons, he offered no verbal opinion on the matter.

Anyway, the Fortress of Ineptitude has a new toilet which is about the most exciting news to report from around these here parts in quite awhile.

Until next time, remember to be good to one another.
