No, We're Not Done With Trump Yet

Two months since the Presidential election and it still ain't over?

Well, more or less, it is. Joe Biden is the President-Elect and today's procedure in Congress to ratify the results of the Electoral College are little more than a formality.

Except today it's not.

There is expected to be a challenge from House and Senate Republicans based on unproven allegations of wide spread voter fraud that cost Donald Trump re-election.

These efforts are not expected to do more than delay ratification of Biden's victory by no more than an hour or two. Mostly it's little more than bread and circuses to appease Donald Trump and his base of supporters enraged by Trump's continual grievances over his delusional view of an election rife with fraud that stole his rightful victory, a perspective that Trump is determined to cling to by hook or by crook.

Speaking of  "by crook", there's the matter of Donald Trump's hour long phone call pressuring Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to recalculate the state’s tally of presidential election votes, to find for Trump the exact number of votes to overturn Joe Biden’s win in the state.

The recording of the phone call released by the Washington Post reveals Trump by turns cajoling, insulting and threat-ening Raffensperger to give Trump the results he wants. There's a lot of legally and morally questionable things going on in that phone call, openly flirting with very sort of election fraud that Trump is always railing against.

The call has been described as like listening to a Mafia boss and a very stupid Mafia boss at that.

Republican Sen. David Perdue, currently involved in a run off election in Georgia to retain his seat, described the call as "disgusting".

OK, I should clarify that it wasn't Trump's legal and ethical lapses that Perdue thought were disgusting. No, Perdue thinks that Raffensperger is disgusting for recording the phone call in the first place.

We've seen this strategy before. Ignore whatever bad thing Trump said or did but criticize the person who revealed the bad thing.

We're now 14 days away from Joe Biden's inauguration. But Donald Trump refuses to go away quietly.

No, we're not done with Trump yet.
