Donald Trump is now the first US president to be impeached twice by the House of Representatives.
The article of impeachment charges Trump with “incitement of insurrection.” It is a single article, narrowly drafted to avoid the need for drawn-out hearings and witness testimony.
In short, we saw him do it, we heard what he said, we know what happened next and we were all there for that part.
The House voted 232-197 in favor of impeachment. Ten Republicans joined Democrats in voting to impeach.
For the 197 Republicans who voted against impeachment, there was the usual hand wringing about dividing the country and he said things he shouldn't have but what did he actually do that was so bad, blah blah blah.
Y'all know the drill.
And the chances of Donald Trump being removed from office before noon on Jan. 20 are slim to none.
But Li'l Donnie will go down in history as the president who was impeached twice because of his own insecurities, his out of control ego and his own failures to accept fact over his self indulgent fantasies.
No matter what comes next, this second impeachment is just one more testament to who Donald Trump has been all along.
