An Expectation To Be Shot

Consider this sequence of events:

• Woman in her car has encounter with ICE agents.
• Woman attempts to drive away.
• ICE agent fires gun into vehicle and shoots the woman.
• ICE Barbie Kristi Noem declares:
• woman attempted to ram an ICE agent with her car
• woman was a domestic terrorist.
• ICE agent was acting in self defense
• There is considerable evidence that none of what Noem says is true.

Now you might be thinking, "Gee, Dave-El,you're describing the tragic sequence of events that led to the murder of Renee Nicole Good last week in Minneapolis." 

Well, I suppose I could be. 

But I'm not.

The sequence of events I described above is what happened to Marimar Martinez of Chicago.  

Marimar Martinez survived her gun shot wounds. Otherwise, the incident with Martinez in Chicago mirrors exactly what happened to Good in Minneapolis.

As of Sunday morning, Kristi Noem was still pushing the false narrative that Renee Good was a domestic terrorist.   

ICE is running amuck with no check on it's power and authority. And with Donald Trump. JD Vance, Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller and more running interference willing to sell their delusional accounts to re-write history. ICE has zero accountability and zero oversight. They have the tacit approval to do anything up to and including murder. 

ICE agents have in less than 1 year discharged their firearms at people 16 times.  Noem says these agents are acting in accordance with their training. 

There's virtually no one in law enforcement who would concur that any law enforcement agency should be firing their guns at people that many times.   

Meanwhile, right wing talking heads on Fox, Newsmax and more are pushing the narrative that people who do not do exactly what ICE agents tell them to do should expect to be shot. 

I don't think getting shot is an expectation for not capitulating to jack booted masked thugs.

And I am not alone in that assessment.

That is not a metaphor.

The blood shed by Marimar Martinez and Renee Nicole Good tells us that war is quite literal.
