Super Bowl 53

Today is Tuesday. Two days ago was Super Bowl 53.

If you still remember this year’s annual spectacle of sports, entertainment and commercialism, well, that would be surprising as there was, to be honest, not that much that was memorable.

Gladys Knight sang the National Anthem which was as good as things were going to get.

At this point, the game gets underway. Allegedly.

At the end of the 2nd half, the score is 3 - 0. I might as well be watching soccer.

And to make matters worse, the 3 belonged to "the hated New England Patriots".

I know there are a lot of football-centric reasons why football fans consider the New England Patriots as “hated”. All I know is that the owner of the Patriots is a Trump ass kisser and Tom Brady was seen sporting a MAGA hat so there are my reasons right there for calling them “the hated New England Patriots”.

Time for the half time show with Maroon 5 (Huh?), Travis Scott (Who the what now?) and Big Boi (I have no idea). I don't  think there's been a halftime Super Bowl show this uninspired since Up With People had the gig 5 times between 1976 and 1986.

The halftime show would've really been awesome had we gotten Spongebob Squarepants and Sweet Victory. We got a tease, a brief clip from the episode "Band Geeks" but all we got from it was an intro for Travis Scott (Who the what now?).

(L - R) Spongebob is AWESOME! Adam Levine is TRYING TO HARD and not awesome.

More game stuff: the LA Rams kick a field goal and now the score is 3 – 3. The announcers inform anyone still awake that a Super Bowl has never gone this long without a touchdown.

Finally in the 4th quarter we get a touchdown and yep, it's  “the hated New England Patriots”.

Finally the game sputters to a close with another field goal from  “the hated New England Patriots” as Super Bowl 53 goes ends with a 13 - 3 score and into the history books as the lowest score ever for a Super Bowl.

Well, how did the commercials rate?

Well, we got new spots with new footage of Captain Marvel (SQUEEEE!!!) and Avengers: Endgame (SQUEEEEEEE!!!!).

My favorites spots were:

The Hyundai ad with Jason Bateman as a snarky elevator attendant sending passengers to various awful experiences—such as getting a root canal or attending a vegan dinner party to name a couple of examples which are still not as bad as buying a new car. Having bought a new car a couple of months ago, I can relate.

Bud-Light versus the scourge of corn syrup?  I did not know this is a thing to be concerned about but apparently Bud Light thinks its a thing.

The 100 Year NFL Game spot was epic and jam packed with football stars past and present. If actual football games were really like that, I would watch more often.

As for bad spots, I just remember whatever spot used the robot boy just creeped me out.

And I think I'll wrap up this post about this year's memorable...

What was I talking about?
