The Milk of IN-Human UN-Kindness

A hallmark of Trump 2.0 is there is no target too small small for Li'l Donnie and his sycophantic toadies in their petty pursuit of cruelty and vindictiveness in pursuit of Trump's agenda of hate.

Case in point: the U.S. Naval vessel the USNS Harvey Milk.

 

It's not a very large boat. It's barely bigger than the SS Minnow from Gilligan's Island.  

The USNS Harvey Milk is an oiler, a naval auxiliary vessel with fuel tanks and dry cargo holds to supply larger ships at sea. 

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered the Navy to rename the USNS Harvey Milk.

Why?

Let's consider who the boat is named after.  

Harvey Milk was a navy veteran who served during the Korean War and got drummed out of the service in 1955 not for anything he did but for who he was.

Harvey Milk was gay.

He would go on to become a champion of  LGBTQ+ rights.  He was the first openly gay man elected to public office when he won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

Harvey Milk was assassinated in 1978. 

The USNS Harvey Milk was named in his honor in 2016. 

In response to the proposal to change the name of this vessell, a Pentagon spokesperson made this statement:  “Secretary Hegseth is committed to ensuring that the names attached to all DOD installations and assets are reflective of the Commander-in-Chief’s priorities, our nation’s history, and the warrior ethos."  

Translation: the usual homophobic bullshit.

Well, ain't it a shame this happening right at the start of Pride Month?

The timing is not an accident.

The timing is intentional.  

BONUS vindictive points: the USNS Harvey Milk was named while Barack Obama was President. Undoing stuff done under Obama will make Li'l Donnie happy.

Navy ships named during Obama's time in office are being considerered for renaming. Those include vessels named for the late Supreme Court justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg (woman) and Thurgood Marshall (black) as well as Harriet Tubman (woman AND black),  Cesar Chavez (Hispanic) and Dolores Huerta (woman AND Hispanic).

Are we sensing a pattern here? 

This is just part of Hegseth's plan with the blessing of Trump to erase from history anyone who is not white, male or straight.
