Anderson earned two Primetime Emmy nominations and three Golden Globe nods for her performance as Jennifer Marlowe during the four-year run of WKRP In Cincinnatti.
Last week, Ken Jennings and Matt Damon won $1 million for the charity water.org on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?
It was interesting to hear Ken talk through his reasoning process with each question. Ken may not know the thing that's in front of him but he makes connections with things he does know.
The only question that neither Ken nor Matt had a clue about was a celebrity who won a Steve Martin look-a-like contest. Too bad one of the choices wasn't Jeopardy champion Sam Buttrey. Ken and Matt used their "ask the host" lifeline and Jimmy Kimmel knew the answer was Bill Nye, the Science Guy.
Ken was caught in the middle of the battle of zingers between Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon but he seemed to enjoy himself.
And winning a million dollar for charity certainly helps.
Speaking of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? and helping those in need, let's take a moment to comment on last week's Game Changers over on Dropout.
As is the case with Game Changers, the theme of each episode is different with host Sam Reich springing a series of questions and challenges with the contestants having no prior knowledge of what they might be.
This time out, the players participate in a quiz show based on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and sponsored by LinkedIn with Jacob Wysocki selected to answer questions about his own life. The notoriously low budget Dropout ponies up $100,000 for Jacob's big win at the end of the episode.
The episode was done in tribute to the fan fave Dropout contributor in response to personal struggles he went through last year.
Here is Jacob Wysocki as the "gnarliest dude", yo!
On the subject of game shows, let's move on to the Match Game.
- We watched it.
- Andrea liked it.
- Don't make me do that again.
Geez!
Match Game features contestants trying to match answers given by celebrity panelists to fill-in-the-blank questions usually involving humorous double entendres.
Martin Short takes over as host and he's a constant whirlwind of manic energy and repartee which I think is a bit much. I like Martin Short well enough but too much of anything can be a bit grating.
The celebrities were hit or miss with their jokes and their guesses at what the civilians guessed.
And the cash prizes are on par with a bad day on Wheel of Fortune.
Match Game is a bit dated where it's sanitized attempts at baudy humor is better suited to the 1970's than it is today.
Andrea liked it. I found it inane and barely tolerable.
That is that for this week's Touchbase.
Coming up for future posts:
- The first season finale for Librarians: the Next Chapter
- The series finales of Resident Alien and FUBAR.
- The return of Wednesday.
Until next time, remember to be good to one another and try to keep it down in there, would ya? I'm trying to watch TV over here.
