What Have You Done For Me Today?

This post was prepared before the jobs report came out last week and Donald Trump's impetuous reaction to that.

That will be a seperate post.

Last week, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley (R) did something that Donald Trump did not like. 

It had something to with some damn procedural thingy that they do in the Senate that was keeping something Li'l Donnie wanted done NOW!  

The procedural thingy is called a "blue slip" which is a mechanism for delaying judicial appointments, usually employed by the minority party. Despite Republicans fast tracking Trump's judicial appointments, Li'l Donnie is in a tizzy of a snit that any of them are being slowed down by Democrats and he blames Grassley who is chair of the judiciary committee for not getting rid of the blue slip. Despite it being a tool used by Republicans when Democrats held the majority.  

Trump accused the 91 year old Republican of being a “RINO” and “sneaky” and standing in the way of Trump’s agenda.

Grassley has been a loyal Trump ally.  Thanks to him, such "luminaries" as Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel were confirmed by the Senate.

Yeah, but what has he done for me lately, Li'l Donnie whines.

What brought on this attack on a long time Trump loyal Republican? 

Apparently it's his staff's fault?   

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said "He's got staff giving him bad advice. I think the president’s staff have a bad habit of advising him that was a good idea.  Somebody told him, ‘You ought to put pressure on him and go on Truth Social'."

Well, isn't that cute? Tillis thinks there's some kind of support structure to give Donald Trump their counsel on what to do and then he applies that advice to a response? 

Oh, fuck no! 

Of course it's Li'l Donnie impulsively whining about some perceived slight that's happening RIGHT NOW and going full bore on the source of that slight regardless of whatever that person's loyalty to Trump has been in the past.  

Never fucking mind that it's because of Grassley that Trump's totally incompetent but fanatically Trump devoted stooges are in positions of power. That was THEN.This is NOW and NOW he's mad and whoever made him mad NOW must pay NOW!  

I have zero respect for Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) but it does seem he understands the mentality he's dealing with when he appealed to Trump to (and I am NOT making this up) "pretty please, with sugar on top" to reconsider his attacks on Grassley. 

Loyalty to Trump is a big thing for Li'l Donnie but it is not reciprical and it's most certainly transactional. 

Grassley has been a loyal foot soldier and a complicit partner to Trump's worst excesses. 

He does one thing Trump disagrees with and BAM!

Grassley is an enemy of Trump and therefore an enemy of America.

Loyalty to Trump? 

That was so yesterday.

Li'l Donnie demands, "What has he done for me today?" 

AMENDED:   The Senate went home for a month long recess without a deal to advance Trump's stalled nominees.

Li'l Donnie told Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer to “GO TO HELL!”

Yeah, that'll get 'em on your side.
