Invasion USA!

A hostile force will be invading our nation's capital intent on usurping control of the city from it's citizens and their elected leaders!

Well, that sounds bad! Someone should tell the President!

It was Donald Trump who ordered the invasion of our nation's capital to take control of the city from it's citizens and leaders!

Well, why did he do that?

Let's Li'l Donnie explain.  

“Our capital city has been overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged-out maniacs and homeless people, and we’re not going to let it happen anymore!"  

You know I absolutely abhor Donald Trump and all he stands for but damn, if all of that is happening, I gotta say, someone should...do...something...

What Trump is describing is not happening? 

Not quite.

Whatever is going on, it's not the dystopian Mad Max hellscape Trump is describing.  

Yes, violent crime is a problem in Washington DC. But recent statistics show that problem is getting better.

After a spike in violent crime in 2023, the Washington Metropolitan Police Department shows violent crime...

1) declined 35% in 2024 and 

2) fallen another 26% so far this year. 

During the campaign last year, Trump threatened to take over the Washington D.C. government which is a consistent talking point for Republicans in general. 

So what is happening NOW that's got Li'l Donnie is such a tizzy of a snit of a fit to send in the National Guard and unleash the FBI on the city?

There is the recent carjacking assault on a staffer from the so-called Department of Government Efficiency. So that helped to remind Li'l Donnie "Oh yeah, I was gonna take over Washington D.C., wasn't I?"

And there is also the small matter of the Epstein files, the scandalous gift that won't stop giving. Trump is desparate to distract from that story.  

How exactly can a President send troops into Washingto D.C.?

Passed in the 1970's, the D.C. Home Rule Act gives the president “In the event of a declared emergency" to act unilaterally as long as the emergency itself or for 30 days after the President takes action.

The D.C. Home Rule Act, like other laws that give the president to act in an emergency, fails to define what an emergency is.

I guess it was understood what constituted an emergency.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi declared in response to Trump's actions, “Crime in D.C. is ending and ending today!"  

Does that mean ALL crime? 

Even jaywalking? 

The grasp of the autocrat knows no bounds. 

By the way, Trump thinks he can takeover New York City and Chicago as well.
