Republicans On the Move

Here we are, nearly a month removed from the end of Donald Trump's misbegotten time in the White House and the Republican Party is on the move.

Towards the crazy. 

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is a Trump loving, QANON conspiracy spreading Congressperson from the state of Georgia. She has questioned the veracity of the events of 9/11. Did a plane really hit the Pentagon? 

She claimed the Parkland shooting was a false flag operation. 

She has called for the execution of Nancy Pelosi for treason.

And....

I am not making this one up.

Marjorie Taylor Greene blamed wildfires in California of being started by Jewish Space Lasers. 

Jewish space stuff? Big deal! Mel Brooks blew the lid off of that one years ago. 

But seriously, folks....

Marjorie Taylor Greene is one fucked up bitch who apparently received a standing ovation in a meeting of House Republicans.

Oh my God! They are running towards the crazy! 

Kevin McCarthy flew down to Florida to meet with Donald Trump and pose for photos in a demonstration of his continued fealty to the dear leader. 

Speaking of Florida, Mark Gaetz recently pledged he was prepared to resign his seat in Congress and give up his very own home if needed to dedicate himself to the defense of Donald Trump. 

Who, you may recall, is facing his 2nd impeachment. Remember that violent assault on the Capitol on January 6th? You know, the one that occurred after Donald Trump told them to be strong, march down to the Capitol and make Congress keep Trump as President? 

Yeah, the spin cycle's been working over time on that one to whitewash Trump's responsibility for that little altercation. 

Trump's hold on the Republican Party seems to be as great as ever.  

Hey, Li'l Donnie is no longer President. Why are the lips of so many Republicans still so fastidiously affixed to his copious backside? 

Because that's where the goddam money is. 

Financial support for Marjorie Taylor Greene has only increased in the wake of all the news reports of her crazy conspiratorial beliefs. 

Trump took in millions of dollars for his grievances that the election was stolen from him. And it's his money to do with as he pleases. Money solicited to fight election fraud has gone mostly to Trump's own bank accounts with no spending on fighting any election fraud. 

Nonetheless, there are still tens of millions of suckers out there who still worship at the altar of Trump and the Republican Party has no incentive to ticked them off by actually seeking to hold either Trump or his most rabid supporters to account for their actions, words and deeds. 

Republicans are on the move... towards the crazy. 

And they are on the move back to their old bad habits. 

They're complaining that Joe Biden's calls for unity are false because he wants do things they don't want to do. Republicans plead for bipartisanship after years of shoving through their own agenda with no Democratic buy in.  

The Republicans definition of "bipartisanship" is just do what we say and no one gets hurt.  

President Biden still hopes for support from both parties for his initiatives but he also views the current state of America beset by the pandemic and subsequent economic downturn as an immediate crisis where solutions are needed now. 

Republicans are suddenly concerned with controlling government spending while not giving a damn about escalating deficits under 8 years of Bush and 4 years of Trump. 

It is astonishing how concerned Republicans get about government spending whenever a Democrat is in the White House.  

So the Senate passed Biden's COVID relief bill with Senators voting along party lines and Vice President Kamala Harris casting the tie breaking vote.  

Republicans on the move, baby!
